My advice to people, but especially kids, who are invested in celebrities, be they actors, musicians, bloggers, youtubers, authors, whatever, is to keep your distance. No matter how happy their content makes you, no matter how strong the pull of a special interest/hyperfixation/obsession might be, it’s important to step back every so often.

Do you find yourself following them on all forms of social media? Do you follow their friends and family, who might not even make content themselves? Do you research their lives? Step back. Just because they are famous doesn’t mean it’s okay to engage in stalking behavior.

Do you find yourself getting anxious if you miss a video, or they upload off schedule? Step back. I know they can help you through dark times but you can’t rely on them all the time.

Would you be devastated if they turned out to be a not-so-nice person? Step back. You can only trust them as much as you trust any stranger. Don’t see yourself up to be shattered if they fall off that pedestal you put them on.

No matter how much somebody interacts with their audience, the relationship is still parasocial. Just keep that in mind. Don’t put all your trust in a stranger. It’s okay to enjoy these people and their content, but keep your distance and step back.

Well this is an interesting problem.

Turned on the lights because Toffee was being ridiculously noisy, only to see:

The lid is on and 100% locked via the handles.

THE SAGA CONTINUES

I wadded up a bunch of tissue to shove into the gap, until I could get something done about it. This didn’t stop Toffee from trying to escape.

Gorgeous. I stayed up, partly out of paranoia, and he decided to keep trying to noodle his way out until gone 2am. Fun fact: I get up for work at 5am.

But he went back into his cave eventually, and was still there when I woke up. I was fairly certain that he’d manage to get out while I was at work, though, and decided whatever–I can close the door, it’s a tiny room, and there’s no way for him to get under the floorboards or into the walls.

Popped into B&Q on my way back from work to get some wood to plug the gaps with, came home, and yep…

He made short work of that.

I start looking in the obvious places, not super panicked. If you’ve followed me for a while, you may remember the saga of the last time I lost him: he was out, sitting on my lap, and then he wasn’t. Five hours later, after tearing apart the house, I found him inside my bed frame. Anyway: behind and around the rack, behind the 15kg bag of substrate I have that takes up 90% of my floor, under the bed–nothing.

Put my bag down on the bed, glance at the pillow and wait a minute.

Jackpot.

Don’t give me that face. 

The moral of the story: check your rubs regularly! When I first got this one and safety-proofed it, there was no way Toffee even could’ve thought about fitting between the lid and the tub, but through use it’s warped enough to provide a quick exit route.

the minecraft launcher got an update and you can finally change your skin via the launcher again! it’s easy and a fantastic way to keep your skins organized! here’s the thing, here’s how it works, enjoy!

the launcher does automatically update so you’ll have to restart the game. Mine updated this morning, but it might roll out for everyone at different times. in your launcher, go to settings, then about. the version im running is 2.1.8629. make sure you take care of java updates as well! those could impact wether or not your launcher is up to date :-)
