this was meant to be part of a joke but i abandoned that idea. and now he looks like a choir boy in church

Slime!Avery AU where he and Derek are fighting a zombie holding a sword together, when it gets a lucky hit in and slices right through Avery's arm. In a panic, Derek wraps it safely in his cape and rushes Avery home with him, hoping to reattach it quickly. But by the time they reach home, something is wrong.

The cape is wriggling on the table, as if there is something in there, and, carefully, Avery pulls back a corner of the cape, only to see... A baby slime-folk???

For most regular slimes, separation turns them into completely different entities, but Avery had NO IDEA that this could happen to slime-folk! How the hell was he supposed to take care of this thing‽

Derek, on the other hand, is completely enraptured by the baby girl, holding a hand out and letting the baby grab his finger, because this little thing was Avery. It was all him, and now it's someone new, someone to care for that was all his Avery and now all their own. He is instantly and completely in love again.
