I spent the day at Mt. Hood. I hiked parts of the Pacific Crest Trail and saw Little Zigzag Canyon. During the Summer, you can ride the Magic Mile chair lift to 7000 feet for awesome views. It was February when we last did some astrophotography. We took pictures of the Rosette Nebula. We studied the picture with a critical eye to see all its flaws. In order to improve, we made some changes. First, we sent a piece of equipment in for repair that was rather finicky. Then, we upgraded our telescope. Finally, we knew we couldn’t blame the gear for our bad pictures. So, we bought some books on deep sky imaging and tried to learn something about astrophotography. Since June provided some clear nights, we were able to photograph The Hercules Globular Cluster. This is a cluster of several hundred thousand stars in the constellation of Hercules. We photographed the cluster through with a black and white astrophotography camera through red, green and blue filters.
