SHADOW AND BONE (2021-)
What are you doing? God, relax, I promise not to ravish you. I hate the way you talk.
There is a sadness in this world.

SHE IS THE BEST! THING!! THATâS EVER BEEN MIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!!!!
folkloreâs release genuinely was one of the best times online in recent memory. the pure excitement of getting a surprise taylor swift album especially during such a dark time, the anticipation of having no lead singles to go off of and only a track list, the drastic shift from lover aesthetic towards something that so many of us wanted. and then when the album came out and it was everything so many of us had ever wanted from taylor. so many people wrote so much brilliant analysis about that album and made so much art and every single post about it was so clearly driven by emotions that only months of self reflection could bring out. every analysis post felt a little more like a confession and it was one of the best examples of fans turning taylorâs stories into our own. folklore is the magic of taylor swift x1000!
folklore literally was the album of the year. it was. not just in quality or popularity or whatever i cannot think of a better encapsulation of every emotion that came out in 2020 than folklore. i love taylor swift!!! talent proves itself over and over!
after seeing how happy taylor was performing willow with jack and aaron.... i am once again asking for evermore: long pond studio sessions

need ur take on the tswift âsexist jokeâ sitch. ik itâs not rly ur thing anymore but i appreciate ur pop culture takes and i feel like Iâm going insane watching even critical-swifties defend what i find to be incredible solipsism on her part. Iâm not sure why weâre at a place where the Chosen Elite are supposed to only experience total & complete joy and any minor infringement on that is met with Chosen Oneâs fansâ intense wrath due to her express encouragement. thx 4 ur time :)
i wasnât going to say anything because i really just think the whole thing is dumb and i donât care, but i guess i will say that what bothers me is how this fits into the bigger picture of which things she chooses to respond to and ~use her platform for~ or whatever.
it just feels like really frequently when there are huge social issues that become part of the national conversation, people will defend her not using her platform to say anything because she âdoesnât want to dilute the power of her voiceâ or whatever, so that when she does say things they are really impactful. which is like.. okay, i can understand wanting to throw your whole weight behind a few political issues that you can really push for instead of just blindly and superficially posting about everything, and yeah i guess it makes sense that you would start with things that you have firsthand personal experience with, but she kind of undermines the argument about not diluting her voice or only wanting to use her platform for the most important and impactful issues when she responds at an 11 any time thereâs any slight against herânot even necessarily women broadly speaking, but her specifically.
like sheâs not an Extremely Online celebrity who regularly interacts with people publicly outside of highly choreographed album promotion, she hasnât been for years, which is great and i genuinely think thatâs healthier for everyone involved. but the thing is that consequently everything she does say takes on more weight (which is, as i said, kind of the point according to people who defend her choice to not speak up on certain things). if someone who is online all the time and comments on everything is like âoh this joke about me was misogynistic and not funny yikes,â thatâs different than taylor framing it with almost the same level of gravitas as she uses for her statements about huge structural social and political issues.
and yes i do understand that these kind of comments are part of a misogynistic culture etc etc and i agree it was a cheap joke that wasnât funny at all, i agree that comedy that hinges on womenâs appearance or dating life is generally bad, but to act like this is just about Womenâs History Month and defending all hard working women, and not about the fact that the joke was about her specifically⌠hm.
plus the fact that she mentioned @/netflix and miss americanaâlike i guess you could argue that was meant to be like oh iâd hoped that weâd moved past this kind of cheap misogynistic humor as a society, but it really did feel like she was leveraging the huge amount of influence she has as a brand to say that because she gave her big documentary to their streaming platform when she could have chosen to go anywhere with it, nothing they produce in the future is allowed to joke about her or mention her in anything less than an unambiguously positive light ever again. and given the fact that she has also worked with disney+, hulu, and amazon, she has the same kind leverage at all those other places too. so. hm.
idk this is way too many words to say about this situation that truly is not worth all of this Discourse, but to me the fact that she phrased it almost explicitly as a political call to action (coupled with her glaring lack of response when other things do not affect her directly) is what makes her public response feel extra disproportionate to the situation at hand.
Sheâs the moment
manifesting only very slight hints to kazâs trauma this season.... the constant wearing of gloves..... sharp inhales when too close to someone..... standing in doorways, away from Inej and jesper, but staring almost longingly to be able to join in...... just very slight hints that make me the audience know something isnât right, but not sure what....... yes....... the good shit
