A summary on Kokichi oma from Danganropa V3
My Danganropa phase is coming back. And as such, my obsession with Saioma is coming back as well.
That being said I wanted to do my take on why people, including myself, ship them...
First let's start breaking down Shuichi's character. Shuichi saihara is a timid yet reserved boy who's known as the ultimate detective. He doesn't take pride in his title, in fact he doesn't even want to be a detective. But with the game and death at this throat, he tries to find a way to survive the killing game. Although, through his peers and the growing tension of everyone dying around him, he learns to be more assertive and more in control of the murder investigations. Shuichi is what I like to call a growing with style kind of character. Once he takes his hat off, he's a completely different guy. Just another protagonist, but all our other protagonists have gone on to be something related to Junko's plan. Shuichi is definitely a developed character to me. But he still has traces of his old self lingering.
My favorite character in the whole series of Danganropa EVER. I can see why he has fans. He's funny, cocky and overall a little shit. I have a history of flocking towards characters who have the degenerate or chaotic personalities; I.e Bakugo, Karkat, Venti, Alois. But Kokichi I feel is just a huge troll in general. Kokichi is what I call chaotic in the sake of the game and it seems he doesn't care about life, but he's the most humane out of everyone. NOT TO MENTION he believes in consent and we love that♡.
When you put a timid, shy oblivious and chaotic, brutally honest troll of a character like Kokichi and Shuichi together, it makes for a really cute ship.
These types of ships are meant to be balance between each other. Always a Ying to a Yang. A good to an evil. A lie to a truth.
That's what Kokichi and Shuichi are to each other. Shuichi never knows if Kokichi is serious or lying. And Kokichi LOVES that, but it also kinda sucks because teasing can only go so far.
Kokichi would tell Shuichi he loves him and Shuichi would just be like "h-huh?? What??" Huge example of the Love Hotel, Shuichi tries to play into Kokichi's fantasy but he doesn't know what Kokichi really wants. People love the hotel mostly because of the part where Kokichi goes
"You can do whatever you want to me. And that's the truth."
But not all the time. He tells Shuichi straight up what he wants. A love confession? Or lust? I think it's Canon that Kokichi really does have feelings for Shuichi but going off on the love Hotel scene isn't really enough. You'd have to interact with this guy to actually tell if he likes Shuichi. He treats Shuichi like any other person stuck with them. Teasing him is just more fun because Shuichi doesn't call Kokichi names or rolls his eyes at him, which is probably why Kokichi draws himself to him.
Overall, we have kokichi and shuichi couples irl, which is probably why the ship is so popular. Or they're just cuties. Shuichi x Kaito tho...
