She let out a small smile, rare to all but her two sisters. Bella wasn’t really fond of emotions, happy emotions that each. There was so much to be annoyed about, especially being surrounded by people she dispised. The brunette shrugged, “Only if you plan on leaving any time soon. I can’t believe I thought this would be bearable.”

Andromeda smiled briefly in return. Smiles weren’t a currency easily traded for members of the Most Noble and Ancient House of Black, except perhaps for Sirius, who tended to laughter more naturally than the rest, but if they were to be bequeathed upon anyone, it was likely to be their own family. “Never fear, then,” Andromeda said, clasping her spare hand over Bellatrix’s linked arm briefly, before letting go, tilting her head to survey the crowd. “I was looking for Rabastan when I spotted you, so I’m not in any haste to leave—-though it’s not exactly particularly gripping either,” she said, raising an eyebrow at an excessively enthusiastic display of affection that they passed. “I heard Lucius earlier talking about wine, which means he’s brought his own, if you think a higher calibre of alcohol will help you bear the evening,” she added.

Bellatrix looked at the other person, a small smirk on their face as they sipped on their firewhiskey. Twirling her hair, she shrugged at them. She had a plate of half eaten food in front of her as well as several empty glasses. “How else did you think I was going to get through this evening. Seeing as I’m now here, might as well make use of all the facilities here. Do you have any idea on what to do? I’m getting a little bored..So entertain me.”

Andromeda watched her sister talking to someone—-well, preying on them might be a better terminology, given how much her companion looked like a deer in the headlights—-and decided to intervene, though whether to spare Bellatrix from their presence or the other from Bella, she wasn’t sure. “Bella,” she said in greeting, looping her arm with her sister’s. “Scouring the crowds for sources of entertainment?” She shifted slightly, assuming the other might leave with the attention now off of them.

    with the party just around the corner, narcissa had already tore through her trunk in search of something worthy enough to wear. after coming up with nothing she decided to find one of her older sisters at once. knowing fully well that andromeda would be the easiest to borrow from she headed to her dorm first, please to find that she was there. with an excited grin she exclaimed, “oh, andy! i am so relieved to see you. i have nothing to wear for this bash. and you know me, i can’t go in just anything. won’t you please let me borrow something?”

        andromeda was seated on her four-poster, flicking through a book her aunt had thrust upon her in the summer with little interest, when her sister entered her dorm. “cissy,” she said in greeting, rising from her bed and discarding the book with barely a thought. at her sister’s request, she rolled her eyes slightly, but her smile was fond— “yes, of course,” she said, laughing a little. “merlin forbid you not have the perfect outfit,” she teased, before adding, “though, it’s the first week—how are you already dissatisfied with your options?” as she teased, she headed to her trunk, popping it open for them to look into.

“That’s not as comforting as you might think,” Andromeda muttered, though she followed him regardless. “I’m not afraid—” and it’s true, she wasn’t; she had never lacked for will or nerve, “—I’m just unconvinced by your reasoning.”

He looked at his shoe again, his nose wrinkling. “Do they even know how expensive these shoes were?”

“It was clearly a conspiracy to damage your shoes,” Andromeda remarked, already bored. Whilst she had been brought up to distinguish and appreciate appropriate levels of finery, she did not share Lucius’ degree of sartorial vanity, and had been absolutely prepared to handle any incidents involving her shoes and gum with a quiet spell and perhaps an expression of distaste. Lucius, apparently, had other ideas. “I would imagine not specifically, though they can probably hazard a guess that it was... excessive,” she said, a touch of exasperation in her tone. “My mother and sister are the only people I know who might rival you in spending money on shoes,” she said. It was quite possibly not true, but it was certainly true of the few Andromeda paid actual attention to—-which was a significantly smaller number than people she technically knew.
