Gotta tell you guys something wild in the Chinese fan sphere

So some fanartist drew a “sexy” (read: booby) version of a (cartoon) character who is traditionally very non-sexualised. Fans of the character got mad about it because it’s kind of groundbreaking how that character is written and portrayed and this art totally ignores the entire point of the character. They demanded the art be deleted. In response to that other people said, well what the fanartist did may be distateful but they have every right to draw what they’re into. The two sides fight for days and each starts a harassment campaign and even report their “opponents’” accounts.

So far so typical. But things eventually come to a head and they decide that this will be settled by votes - not through a poll. Through donations to a children’s education charity via each side’s portal. Whoever can get the highest amount of donation wins.

And that is how this charity received over 1 million in donations in three days lol. Oh btw the “freedom of expression” side won by a landslide (960k to 40k)

did Lohen's story quest yesterday and i have so many things to say

moral of the story: dont do drugs kids. the power to overcome personal battles comes from within.

Lohen is a walking bag of anxiety in a trenchcoat. his trauma eats him alive every waking minute of every day

Lohen feels weak, and undeserving of praise. he wants to be someone he can be proud of

Lohen finds relaxing experiences too calm to feel safe- it actually makes his anxiety worse (he gets tense and irritable)

Lohen is implied to have little to no history of friendships and has severe trust issues. he struggles making friends and trusting others to the point he trains his knights by scaring them to teach them safety in self-sufficiency instead of teamwork

Lohen hates being snuck up on and pursues power/strength to always be one step ahead of anything unexpected to avoid being traumatized the same way again. feeling weak and powerless- even mortal- in battle gives him horrid flashbacks

for a long time after his trauma he believed his mortality was what made him weak and needed to be exceptional to never get traumatized again. he believed he was kidnapped for experimentation because he was weak and wasnt strong enough. he thought his trauma was a gift telling him he could be stronger if he just went for it (same trauma as Childe)

in order to not succumb to sex negative conservatism you have to accept that people will get off to things that are upsetting to you. and you cannot assume anything about what they have or have not experienced, what they do or do not believe, and how they act based solely on what gets them off. even if it's extremely confusing and disturbing to you. there are people who have only ever had heterosexual vanilla sex in missionary with the lights off, who actively contribute to more real world harm than your average fetish artist. kink is not a reliable source of information on someone's moral standing. it just feels good to think that way.
