I don’t say this lightly, but I genuinely think this is the best piece I’ve ever created.

Every painting teaches me something, and this one feels like all those lessons finally came together. The course I’ve been taking has also helped me immensely, I t’s completely changed how I think about the painting process, and I finally feel like things are starting to click.

I did, however, almost lose my mind somewhere around peony number three… and then I realized there were a lot more peonies to paint. 😂

I’m incredibly proud of how this turned out.

started writing/posting HTDITR in April of last year during a very challenging time in my life. updates have been very inconsistent because I posted each chapter as soon as I completed it and started writing the next chapter immediately after. this has blocked the momentum of the fic significantly. it has fallen off. I think people have forgotten about the fic. maybe it's the inconsistent updates, maybe it's the writing having gotten worse because I rushed to get the chapters out. I dunno.

I just know I love this fic. I really do believe it has the potential to be a beautiful story that gets a lot more attention if I could just market it to the fandom properly. it's got 4k hits in 15 months. I'm grateful for that. at the same time, I see other fics on AO3 that have been up for 2 months with 15k+ hits and can't help but wonder what I'm doing wrong.

so maybe I should take the fic down completely, commission some artwork from artists in the fandom to promote it, finish writing all chapters, make some adjustments to the timeline of the story, and reupload the fic one chapter each week after everything is properly prepared. I cherish everyone's comments and would definitely save the existing comments before I delete the fic.
