hey, y'all!

just a quick post to let those whom it may concern know that i've finally restricted all my works on ao3.

i resisted a long time, despite my deep disgust for all the bots and trawlers and what have you, because i am primarily an internet lurker and i respect other lurkers. it has meant a lot to me to be in other places or on other devices where i don't want to log in and still be able to enjoy the wonderful fanworks that help bolster my life, in the way only fandom can.

and i lasted so long because it's been quite a while since i've seen evidence of them. but a couple days ago i got hit again, and that was my benchmark. that is enough.

though the hurdle is ultimately not big, i am nevertheless sorry that we can't still live in that beautiful golden age where it was safer to be more welcoming.

zane boodram and shane were in the same timbits hockey program, and their families are friendly. zane’s mom and yuna took a photo of them together once, and once with the whole timbits team.

fast forward to shane and ilya going to bood’s house for bbq, and those two obviously forgot they ever played with the other. so when cassie boodram was chatting to the wags about how cute bood was as a kid, ilya got to see the timbits team pic. and his eyes lit up as he ran out to shane (who was having a very casual conversation with harris) and bood, yelling “WERE YOU TWO ON THE SAME TIMBITS TEAM!??!?!!” shoving the photo to their faces. he also whipped out his phone to text yuna because shane in timbits uniform???? too cute!!!!

and that’s how they got sent a photo with bood all happy and smiley hugging shane and shane staring behind the camera at yuna with the tiniest politest smile. and ilya’s heart explodes.

later, harris made shane and bood take a photo (in centaurs uniform) together and posted a tiktok/twitter post with the caption “And when I'm back in Ottawa, I feel it” (end of beginning as bgm ofc) and it blew THE FUCK up. i’m talking shane hollander/zane boodram tag got 100 fics in a day.

Hi Apple users, Apple released a fun thing where they take your photos and Siri transcripts and use them to train AI! And they may be automatically turned on without your knowledge, because oh boy they sure were for me!!!!!!!!!!!!

Open the “apps” section in your settings (it’s usually at the very bottom), go to photos and scroll until you see “Enhanced Visual Search” and then turn that shit off. Then go to “Privacy and Security”, scroll until you see “Analytics & Improvements”, and turn off “Improve Siri & Dictation” as well.

​I am an artist with hundreds upon hundreds of my artworks in my photo album. I also have plenty of photos with not only my own face, but the faces of my friends and my family. I do not appreciate that being used to train AI without my consent, and I’m pretty sure it’s the same for others too.

I’m so tired of big companies.
