    Evita paused a moment just to look at his smug face. If she were a common woman, she would really give him what-for. The mere thought of it balled her fists until they trembled, as though they were preparing to give him the ol’ one-two she imagined.

     Thankfully, the silk (satin) of her elbow length gloves brought Evita back to her senses before any stress-reducing mistakes were made.

     ‘I will ask you only once,’ she said through a forced smile, ‘Where is my crown?!’

Two generations. Mother and daughter.

The blue 1930s evening gown with a matching chinchilla fur cape shown on the left was worn by Mrs. Helene May Mittendorf, born 1888. The red dress on the right was worn by her daughter, Glenna Irene Potts, born 1921.

I was lucky enough to acquire this little assemblage of clothing and accessories just recently. The blue dress, 1930s shoes with their original boxes, and the 1930s purse with its original box were all worn by Helene Mittendorf. It’s not everyday you hit a jackpot like this!

The shoe box with the pink colored shoes has “New Fuscia Slipper,” penciled onto it in cursive. I thought that was pretty cool.
