There are colors in my art and life against which I have no defense.
Now they are: chartrueuse, shocking pink, turquoise, and very edible orange.
I finished my custom filofax 🥹 she's so cozy. After all, she's made from an old couch.
Ski-sailing across frozen Lake Mendota to commute to my job. I love when winter is winter for real.
Making progress on the "faux-lofax". I'm repurposing free upholstery leather from someone's old chair, which is quite soft yet resistant to scratches and really all marks. That's good for durability but will be less beautiful as there is no earned patina.
My favorite tool of this project is the Speedy Stitcher. My boyfriend already has one for sail repair, and the awl and waxed thread is perfect for this job. It can get through 3 layers of leather with less force than I expected. The leather is too soft to hold a scribed line for stitch alignment, so I'm just freehanding all of this. I don't mind the crafty look as this is only my first attempt at a leather project.
Next: stitch 3 sides together on a curve to create a folded wallet shape.
I'm coveting the filofax mini malden so greatly (truly influenced by @imanbenerrabeh 🩷) that I must make my own. We're on the floor starting with this paper mockup.
My ego says it'll be doable, but I've never worked with leather before and have no specialized tools! I did adjust the left panel so as not to be burdened by installing a zipper.
