a nightmare where mado "wakes up" on a bed thats in the middle of a loud and busy highway. no vehicles actually hit the bed but they always come very close and it is so busy that mado cannot risk moving. under the vehicles mado can catch glimpses of mangled, bloody, flattened figures. they are hard to see because of the sheer amount of cars, but visible enough to remind mado that they are there. looking closer past the gore, the figures all have similar body structure. maybe mado knows who it is

Well, it wasn’t as if he’s actually cared about any of them enough to actually deserve the title of guardian in Eleanor’s eyes but he’d certainly taught the girl plenty of valuable lessons in their years together, both from books and experience. "He was strict and very particular and a worthless human being, he blamed us."

They frowned, slumping their shoulders.

"That sounds... really terrible, actually. I'm sorry you had to be stuck with such a man for so long."

Madotsuki almost wanted to pry deeper, but they were much to worried about upsetting Eleanor. From her tone, it seemed to be a bit of a sore spot for her, and Mado themself had already experienced countless occasions where people would press them for information simply because they had the misfortune of having an interesting life.

Well… I have four! A seagull, a dolphin, an octopus, and a shark. They’re all pretty different. The seagull is kind of loud, but really creative, and she’s a lot of fun! She and the dolphin are really good friends which you’d never really guess since the dolphin is so shy and quiet, but it’s nice to see that they get along.

The octopus is really quiet, and kind of scary, but he’s nice, and he’s a good cook. And the shark is really scary too, he’s tough and he comes off as really mean but he’s a huge sweetheart. He was my first familiar ever, actually.

… He’s been gone a little while, but he’ll come back. My version of him, anyway. I’ve met alternates though.

I never knew sea-life could be so interesting. My, how blind I was.

I... wish I could say I had a lot of friends, I guess. I currently have one friend and several acquaintances. But I guess that's a start? I mean, I don't really get out much.

I-I... I, uh... guess you could say that, yeah. Yeah. I don't really get out much, and so I don't really know a lot of people??

I mean, of course, now I do. But I mean people around my area that I speak with regularly.

"Madotsuki." She replies flatly, brushing a braid behind her.

"So... I'm guessing these aren't my dreams?? They seem a little familiar, but..."

"Um, well... On most days, xe's a sentient revolver, so that might be the problem. Xir name is Genie, and xe is surprisingly pleasant for being a weapon and all. Nice to meet you too, I guess."

plucking up one of the blob like creatures casually, urotsuki blinked at the strange noise it made before giving it another slight squeeze to see if it would elicit the same sound. her eyes then flickered back to madotsuki, still cradling the little gurgling neon creature as though it were a child.

"ah. correct, i have quite a few fluorescent dreams of my own. none of them seem this…simple, though. one is quite crowded and the ambiance startles me more often than i’d like to admit."

Oh no. The dream creature was adorable. Okay, keep cool, keep cool.

"I'm sorry. I hate crowds. At least, crowds of people. Crowds of weird beeping things are fine, because I mean look at them."

She picked up a wiggly noodle thing for emphasis, but it very quickly writhed out of her hands, despite her desperate attempts to keep it in one place. If you own ferrets, you know her exact problem. She forced herself to look back at her new conversation partner instead of frowning childishly at the floor. "Okay, but you get my point. People are usually not as cute. Or as quiet. I mean, no offense to you, assuming you'd define yourself as 'people'. More offense to crowds though. Fuck crowds."

"urotsuki. pleased to make your acquaintance."

though this strangely fluorescent world seemed connected to this girl in particular, urotsuki still felt the need to confirm her suspicions.

"by chance, would you be the creator of this world?"

Madotsuki tilted her head, before looking around at the Neon World, which she had previously been in to visit some of the small rock-looking creatures to see if she could pick them up, and if they made cute noises when you did.

"I guess so, yeah." She replied after a short pause. "As in, it came from my brain, which sounds weird but I'm pretty sure you're familiar with that sort of thing."

"…!! ah. your visage draws on my memories as well."

with a tilt of her head, urotsuki ponders the other’s appearance for a moment before speaking again.

"speak your name, please."

"Erm... Well..."

She shuffles back a bit, surprised not just by their mutual familiarity, but the other girl's manner of speaking. Almost felt a little intimidating, actually.

"Madotsuki. Yes, that's my name. Yes, I know it's strange. I picked it out special."
