the sympathy this show has for its villains is lovely
Dandadan, ep. 7
The color choices remain outstanding. Love the ambition of shots in the action scenes, like the hectic crash landing into the graceful landing of Silky.

Jujutsu Kaisen ep. 25
This show dips its toes into VHS analog horror for a minute here, just because.
The use of mid 2000s tech in this flashback arc really sells the mood. I miiight have flipped my opinion on this show just because of my nostalgia for this era.
Jujutsu Kaisen, ep. 25
What a glow up from S1 to S2! I was about to ditch this show after a disappointing first season. I was put off by what I felt to be a tryhard-wannabe-NarutoxBleach attitude. Instead, it actually achieves what the credit sequences of the previous season where hinting at, a grounded art style verging on vérité cinema at points. There are a plethora of ambitious shots integrating 2D animation with detailed 3D environments that work to sell the tension of ancient horror hidden in the modern world. It makes it more exciting when that horror bubbles over into shounen action.
The World of Edena by Moebius has been a part of my nighttime reading for the past couple months. It’s a surreal trip through a sci-fi world that runs on dream logic, and it’s the perfect thing to feed my mind before bed. Beneath the silly made-up gobbledygook, there is a human tale of desire and self-discovery, as well as lessons about egoism and improper use of technology. Moebius really is that dude, and he is counted among the alltime greats of comics for good reason.
