      “  i  …  i know.  ”  which only makes this whole experience 10x more embarrassing for her  ..  for sober her, anyway. she stumbles a bit despite not moving much.  “  i’m sorry to just show up like this but i—  ”  lower lip trembles  &  her gaze lowers.  “  i don’t want to go home yet and i didn’t know where else to go.  ”  she fiddles with her fingers. eyes look back at matty  &  gigi forces a smile.  “  so, um. how have you been?  ”

      matty does feel bad, extremely bad so she’s of course going to let the girl come in and sleep it off. she knew gigi would do that much for her & more,   “   come in, please. how about some hot chocolate with EXTRA whipped cream, yeah?   ”   she offers, stepping to the side to allow the woman in, ushering her over to the kitchen,   “   oh you know, i started at a new hospital. it’s rather interesting and the patients are even crazier somehow. how are you?   ”   she’s trying to keep the conversation bright, away from the topic of the two of them. it’s not that she didn’t have feelings for the other, she may have had too many. at some point her own emotions had to be put first but tonight wasn’t the night.

gen surveys the other woman carefully , trying to gauge her threat - level without being blatantly obvious . thanks to her   slayer blood   , gen can smell the undead from miles away — in matty’s case , mere feet . any other   de la rue   would’ve been on the offense already , but of course , she is not just anyone . she’d given up on the slayer’s code ages ago , rewritten her rules into something she liked to call the   “ genesis code ”   . so long as a   vampire   does not pose a direct threat to those around them , be it now or in the future , they are to be left in peace . 

“ you seem sweet .   too sweet   . i think you might want to know that hunters have been lurking around these parts lately — and i   promise you   , they’re none - too kinder than me . you should   lay low   for a while . ”

     she was a pro at getting out of some sticky situations in the past. looks like she didn’t need to sweet talk her way out of this one or simply fight back. it’s a bit of a red flag having a stranger of her caliber being so compassionate. for what reason does she have to spare matty? she makes sure to keep her body language calm & nonthreatening. 

“   too much of me and you might end up with diabetes.   ”   she teased,   “   thanks for the heads up.. why are you.. being kind at all?   ”

     something had come over matty. she had never thought of asher in more than a platonic way the time they’ve been friends. tonight though, she was seeing him in a different light. they were in the middle of watching a movie she had invited him over for. recently, matty had been jealous hearing about the other’s lovers which lead her to doing this. hearing his phone buzz she picked it up & answered,   “  he’s not coming back because he’s sleeping with me.   ”
