Reblog In 5 seconds for good luck
this worked last night lets go for round two
Tumblr staff: ten options is enough for polls, right? No one needs more than that on a regular basis. The average tumblr user: Hey guys which element of the periodic table do you think is the most fuckable?
I actually really adore sibling/familial abandonment subplots. I like I fucking love it. Arcane did it so well in between Jinx and Vi! You felt both their pain and Vi's guilt plus Jinx's mental break afterwards. So that's to say I'm not the type of person who takes that type of stuff at face value. However it's always been clear to me at least that Weiss' canonical abandonment of Whitley (Willow literally says that she left him and it's meant to be taken as how Whitley feels) was just to fix why Winter and Weiss never mention or care about the fact that they have a brother. Just make the brother a little brat that'll explain everything! And that really informs why the arc was treated so badly- compared to say again Arcane. Ther was no intention there to write something good or meaningful, it was always just a justification to fix up a plot hole.
You can really tell with how the writers treat Whitley and how they're continuously shocked when *gasp* people think Weiss' actions may be also a bit morally questionable at best too. Weiss threatens Whitley? Well it's for Weiss' character development duh! Okay but how would Whitley feel about his sister (who he canonically feels abandoned him) doing that to him? Well who cares! That's not important, what's important is that he comes to Weiss' side eventually!
Which is why I don't really have any hope for future interactions between Winter and Whitley bc idk I could be pleasantly surprised but I dont really think so in all honesty. Anyways this blog will still be here when the show inevitably cringe fails this and I'll be 100% making up a different fanon for it <3. Join me.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they do a time-skip forwards after they get back from Wonderland or whatever and Whitley and Winter never interact apart from a passing mention of 'Oh we made up'. Like, I'm not asking for a Doffy and Cora from One Piece level of sibling angst, but just something.
Absolutely loving the people in the notes who clearly think this is just a random old lady and not Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany
Never before have I felt so seen.
Someone that knows more about classic literature than I do tell me if Whitley with a Dracula allusion is at all funny/interesting
I always pictured Dracula as more of a Salem-like character, however Whitley does work as well.
Personally, out of vampire literature, I prefer to think of him as more of a Lestat from The Vampire Chronicles, that's the series where 'Sexy Vampires' are from and seriously worth a read if you haven't.
Really tho, out of all vampires in literature I've read including in vomedy books and the like, I'd say he'd make an excellent 'Otto Chriek' from Discworld's 'The Truth' and other smaller apperances since I could totally see him swearing off blood and putting on a comedy accent to make people less frightened of him, because people are less likely to attack a music hall vampire over a threatening one.
I've decided that if Whitley ever becomes combat ready, my dream design for him would be a more European/Western variant of Xingqiu from Genshin Impact.
The color scheme of this dark teal blue (idk what this color is called lol), navy, black, and white would suit Whitley very well, drawing from both Weiss and Jacques while being distinct from the shades of blue they wear to be his own color, and if you kept the gold instead of the silver the Schnees wear, that would separate him out further, though even with silver accents it would still be a distinct color scheme.
Xingqiu's design very much screams "young rich boy of the aristocracy" with the shorts, all the ornate golden accents, and the boots; all the decorations, ribbons, and gems really give an air of wealth and status, but is still very child-like in dress, which overall I think is a vital vibe for Whitley. The poofy ruffled sleeves help invoke Weiss's sleeves, and the crooked coattails add that element of asymmetry that Weiss's ponytail gives her without outright copying her. With a few adjustments, I could easily see Whitley in something like this for combat gear.
...Also, just - have you seen Xingqiu move in this game? I want those animations for Whitley so bad it ain't even funny. And Xingqiu's elemental skill and burst being summoning phantom swords to heal/protect him or fight alongside him for extra damage? Perfect for a Schnee's summoning skill.
I also would love to think about Whitley as Xingqiu AU, a younger heir to a merchant empire that loves books and stories of chivalrous heroes fighting to enact justice and help those in need without so much as a thank you needed, it's so cute -
Honestly either that or a cavendish from One Piece sort of fit.
Ever want to have a bad experience? Try explaining to a friend who doesn't watch RWBY how the atlesian government works.
Every single bit of RWBY worldbuilding kinda collapses if you think about it for too long, for example:
'So, Atlas has the only standing military in the world'
'What, like no other countries have militaries?'
'No, they have huntsmen and huntresses'
'Ah, so they've got government hunters while Atlas only has the military'
'No, Atlas has hunters in their military as well, they're called specialists'
'Wait, so does the rest of the world have more hunters?'
'No, they don't have any actually. The rest of the world intentionally don't allow the hunters to be recruited by the governments'
'Why? Doesn't this just create a massive imbalance in power between the kingdoms?'
'I mean, yeah, but don't worry about it'
'Ah, I get what your putting down. So Atlas is a beloved place, you know a being holding up the rest of the world military-wise? I get the name now'
'No, Atlas is pretty much just Classism For Dummies, with the place below it, Mantle, basically being under their opressive boot.'
'Then why do they only have a military?'
'Either heavy-handed political stuff or because the hunters don't make much sense if each country has a dedicated military to deal with the grimm'
'Ah, fun.'
I love the Silmarillion fandom on Tumblr because they still use all the stock soft gay fandom tropes but it's with, like, Morgoth and Sauron
Sputtering and quietly panicking at how hot his student Sauron is, yes, this definitely a trait that He Who Arises in Might would have
Or, as they might call him, He Who Arises In Sight Of His Softboi BF Sauron
I’ve been thinking about these graphics that depict the cambrian explosion as a LITERAL big bang explosion all day. They’re so fucking funny to me

Literally kaboom
that looks like a yugioh card for a cambrian themed deck
What's the controversy with Catch-22 bros, what are 22bros doing
I'd say ask them, but then you'd have to live with the knowledge.
Yeah we all know about the schneeblings being afraid of becoming their father n all but what about them being afraid of becoming their mother.
Winter begins drinking to cope with watching Weiss die, she sees her reflection and then immediately throws the bottle down and begins to cry.
Weiss, when she begins to fall for someone, refuses to trust them for ages because she doesn't want to be duped like her mother.
Whitley, having to survive in the desert, pushes away his family time and time again, scared of relying on them only for them to leave again, and only stops when he realises he's becoming more and more isolated, just like his mother.
Winter: ... so he murdered four kids and stuffed them into animatronic suits?
Whitley, holding the fandomwiki FNAF lore article: no Winter, he murdered five. Keep up. Anyways-
Three Afton children.
Three Schnee children.
Youngest is the only one of their gender.
#Which line is the 'giving scores to the people diving off'?
Thinking of world building details, such as: is vacuo a tax haven?
I think it's less of a tax haven and more of a 'Who do you want taking the money: the tax man or the thieves?'
I honestly don't see any major tax havens popping up, instead I feel they would get around it through other means.
For example, the SDC could, instead of paying taxes, offer to sell dust to the governments at a reduced rate rather than paying tax or a weapon manufactuer offering free weapons.
But the biggest problem with the hypothetical tax system is the use of a single currency, as the vast difference between the kingdoms stability and tech-wise would result in the value of lien flip-flopping like crazy, without even getting into the baser details, like how the single currency removes the option for the individual governments to debase their currency in times of crisis.
Yes, I am that guy who overthinks about fictional economies. Sue me, the Lien I'll pay you is worthless now because 2 of the most stable economies are in tatters.
I honestly forgot that remnant operated on a single currency oops
I, for the sake of my own sanity, just assume that 'Lien' is just a generic afterword for Remmenants money and each country has their own specific type, like Australian dollars and American dollars.
I can't blame the writers for not making more types of money, because it would just take up time and writing introducing new types if money everywhere they go, but still fun to think about.

Every time a character calls someone a fool I'm like...mmm how whitleycore of you
May I introduce you to Franziska von Karma from Ace Attorney,,, who now that I look at her again yes her design is really whitleycore isn't it. Huh.
Yes, these are all actual screenshots and quotes from the games.
Let's see if anything else matches:
> Both younger siblings to main character's partner (I dunno how to catagorise Edgeworth in the later games relationship to Phoenix but I feel this is close enough) who was antagonistic at first.
> Father was emotionally abusive.
> Cold exterior which breaks over the course of their development.
Well would you look at that.
