It's wild to see the discourse surrounding Jax post episode 9. This how I know media literacy is dead, because how do you see the most heavy-handed "This character is the result of suppression and self hatred, and the answer is not doing either of these things if you want to grow and be happy with people who care about you" thing and then turn around and say that he didn't receive consequences.

My friend. The egg is dead, she rotted in the shell out of fear of being vulnerable and now she's functionally dead. That's a consequence. It's the direct consequence of pushing people away and hurting the people around her out of a fear of being taken advantage of or being seen as vulnerable. Also, people expecting the irl Jax to be overtly feminine or performing femininity, like trans women need to be hyper-feminine to justify themselves...

Yeah, I was frustrated that things got jax-centric after awhile, but I'm not dumb enough to pretend that I wouldn't also spotlight my favorite character if I was officially making a piece of media. Gooseworks, being trans herself, poured a lot into Jax and it shows. People just can't handle complex women!!!
