A brooding charcoal Jensen. This paper is really fun to draw on. The texture does all kinds of interesting things with the soft charcoal in terms of bringing life and form to the shapes. I'm not sure how - but maybe that the ridges create optical illusions? Or something. Anyway, it's very different from drawing on smooth paper and different again from drawing on the rough-textured pastel paper.
Actually, if anyone wants to buy this picture, please let me know. It's 24 by 32 cm. I could give it a bit of a spray with fixative, but charcoal is always a bit fragile. I could package him up carefully, though. Anyway, if you'd like a Jensen for Christmas, he's available!
