The weather's changing.
On second thought I don’t want someone who insults my amazing arse on an escape trip with me! -James feigns shock at the insult and being told he cocked up-
Oh come on, your dad’s alright, when he’s not being a teacher! But hey, by the looks of it I’ll have to re-do seventh year so we can study and reach havoc for another year together!
You know I don't mean a single word of whatever I say when it comes to you... Though there are probably times when I do, like, when I'm super pissed off or whatever. [Alice tapped the back of her hand against James' arm as a light warning.] Don't be so dramatic.
Oh, Merlin! Another year locked up in Gryffindor Tower with you! [Before Alice could say anything else, she felt her cheeks flush; being locked up with James Potter probably wasn't such a terrible thing.] I guess I could live with it for another year.

The weather's changing.
Finally! Someone who understands my anger, people think I’m angry at the teachers but I totally accept the punishment because I was stupid. If you’d been with me I wouldn’t have got caught!
I know the feeling, your dad gave me some magical theory work to do and it made me realise I have my NEWTs this year and I’m stuck here!
I would have had your back, I would have covered that skinny little arse of yours. But, I'm glad you're taking your punishment like a man because you cocked up.
Oh, isn't Dad such a delight? At least the bomb has dropped that we're missing so much important things, like, how are we all meant to be ready enough for exams? At least I have another year before my NEWTs though it feels ridiculously close.
The weather's changing.
I can definitely go for that… I’ve been around. Studying mostly, and getting to know some of the muggles. This school is really quite interesting, don’t you think?
[Alice shrugged her shoulders, contemplating how to answer Lily's question.] Yeah, I guess there are aspects of it that I've found pretty interesting. My classes aren't dull and the people are nice enough, I even managed to bag myself a friend or two. However, I'll still be glad to see the back of it.
The weather's changing.
I have in actual fact been such a bad student. I ran away and only made it to Diagon Alley, got caught right off the Knight Bus. -A small glint of mischief was in his eyes and a smile imitating innocence failed miserably- Please don’t tell me how disappointed you are.
How did you manage to get caught? I thought you were better than that, Potter. [Alice smirked slightly, letting James know that she wasn't disappointed - as he suggested - though a little annoyed that the boy hadn't dragged her along to enjoy the fun.] I wish we could just walk out and go home, though, James. I miss it all so much, this is growing more and more pointless being here.
The weather's changing.
You think it’d be interesting, I’m racking my brains to think what I might surprise you with. -Sure enough his mind was racing through all the surprises he wanted to give, just the thought of putting a smile on her soft pink lips after a month of waiting. Then the thought of her lips took over, the memory of that single kiss a month or so ago. It sent the slightest of shivers down his spine and a slight smile to his lips- It’ll take more than that Longbottom, besides, your dad would know you did it. Not a great idea, I’m in enough trouble.
[Trying to ignore the smile that had shifted onto James' face, Alice blinked up at the boy at the mention of her father, Neville Longbottom.] Dad? What about him? You haven't done something that I haven't heard about, have you? [A frown creased her brow and Alice fought the urge to cross her arms, mind still lingering on the untold surprises that she wanted to receive.]
The weather's changing.
But I’m sure we could find some hot cocoa, and that makes everything better, right?
I guess, or just a good cup of tea. Large mug preferably. [She grinned.] Where on earth have you been lately, anyway? Seems like forever ago since I saw your head bobbing about that place.
The weather's changing.
Why thank you Al. -Even in the space of a few weeks Alice looked different, older but in the best possible way. A month ago that difference had scared him but now he wondered how that was possible, because he realised he wanted to be there when Alice changed slightly forever. James wanted to see her grow and blossom even if she grew out of him and didn’t want him around- What, no way! But that would be interesting to find out wouldn’t it, perhaps you might have to bribe me to show you without actually disappearing.
[Smiling softly, Alice's eye slipped over James' features; his dark eyes, his white teeth showing through his parted lips, a slight darkening around his jaw from the stubble that grew there.] As if I could survive a month, anyway, James... That wouldn't really work but I do agree, it'd be interesting to see. Wait, how could I bribe you? With sweets, promises of big hugs? I could do your homework...

The weather's changing.
It was! Tall people are dumb, just look at me.
-He let go eventually and held her at arms length so he had to look right down at her small frame. Somehow all his anger at professor Longbottom and Westwood and not being with his wand or broom or at Hogwarts dissipated into nothingness- Sorry, just thought that might make up for the past week or two.
You're not dumb. [As she was held out at arms length, Alice peered up at James through her lashes. He was far from dumb, stupid, or anything else remotely negative; she'd always been intrigued by the over stretched boy and his uncontrolled hair.] It makes up for it, yeah. Might have to skip on seeing you for another two weeks if that's what I get. I wonder how different the greeting would be if I made it a month.
The weather's changing.
Oh, but don’t you love the winter weather, Alice?
I don't mind it if I have a lovely fire to curl up in front of during the chill nights but Westwood seem to lack those.
The weather's changing.
What you lack in height you make up in brain cells for certain.
You remain the only Longbottom worth knowing right now, so of course I would gladly give you a hug. -James charged at her that second and pulled her into a bear hug so tight he wondered if she could even breath-
I'll take that as a compliment, kind sir.
[For a moment, Alice allowed herself to be taken up in James' arms, swallowed by his tight grip and let her mind come to a calm rest. However, a smirk grew wide across her cheeks as the pressure on her ribs increase with each passing second.] Okay, James, we have no wands to mend broken bones and I quite fancy my ribs the way they are!
The weather's changing.
that is the smartest way I have ever heard someone insult a sweaty person, how privileged people must be to earn such intelligent insults.
Like you could ever forget my face, pshht stranger. Besides, I am happier for seeing the best Longbottom around.
I like to believe I'm quite bright and witty when I want to be, such a gift I suppose.
Good. Glad to know that I still remain the greatest Longbottom in existence. This little Longbottom could do with a hug, her goosebumps have goosebumps.
