The shimmer of anxiety swum in his blood, but quickly beaten down upon the answer he received. For a moment or two, he forgotten why he felt anxious about why this man might refused. Perhaps most might say no and ask someone else. Perhaps this is a different type of connection that sent a wave of warmth - not the type to receive by the sun and instead when you are near someone you enjoyed their company - and heart beating slightly faster than normal. Perhaps it's something else entirely.

Keeping his smile from breaking into a bright and wide one, it was reduced to a smaller and delighted one, showing the softer side than the brighter side.

❝Do you want to go now? I don't want to suddenly pull you out of what you are doing a second ago.❞ There it is. The quiet push of "finish what you started and attend to me afterwards" that spoke louder than the words he uttered out loud. The politeness of not wanting to get in the way of things. Not because he saw himself as a burden - far from that, despite his mind sometimes drifting lightly in that direction from time to time - but because he didn't want to yank someone out of something they want to finish.

Then again, they could always say it out loud too, which quietly reassures him from the get-go.

The high pitch sound of delight and excitement took Uriel by surprise. Even move her head slightly to avoid getting her eardrums from being hit directly by the sound, knowing it hit in a way that she isn't quite pleased. She also didn't make any comments or facial expression to carry out her disproval about such things. In fact, again, she's more surprised than displeased.

She's not the least surprised to know both went trembling to the ground. Uriel on top of the other woman, though she attempted to move to get on her feet and not crush the poor woman.

❝Why are we excited to see me? I never had anyone be excited to see me.❞ Not to the point of letting out a high pitch sound and quickly welcome the falling angel.

"Hey, I never said you couldn't handle yourself," Dante replied, lifting his free hand in mock surrender. "I'm just saying if something big, ugly, and terminally stupid comes charging at us, I'll take the part where it gets introduced to the sharp end. You can stand back, wave your hands around, say something mysterious, and make it explode in a way that makes me look underqualified."

He let out a quiet chuckle, though there was a little more respect beneath the teasing now. Magic wasn't his preferred solution, mostly because shooting or stabbing a problem required a lot less concentration, but he'd seen enough of it to know how dangerous a skilled user could be. Someone calm about their power usually worried him more than someone eager to show it off.

"As for fate crossing our paths..." Dante tipped his head back, glancing briefly toward whatever miserable stretch of terrain had trapped them together. "I've got a complicated relationship with fate. Usually it throws something horrible at me, I complain about it, then I stab it until everybody agrees I was right." His gaze returned to Azrael, amusement bright in his eyes. "But so far, you're polite, useful, and you haven't tried to kill me. That already puts you ahead of most people I meet on the job."

The grin sharpened.

"So you handle the mystical long-range stuff, I handle anything dumb enough to get close, and when we're outta here, you can tell me whether this was destiny or just really bad luck."

There's only a faint sound coming from the back of his throat at those words being uttered into the world, which actually is a chuckle. It's not the first time someone said something along those lines directed at him. Not the first time someone told him that, but not the last time either.

❝Just because you can't use magic doesn't make you underqualified. We both have our strengths. Yours lay in with the sword and being up close and personal.❞ His tone is light, airy, soft. Not in the manner of speaking to someone who looked down on themselves and needed a little pick-me-up statements or a bit of reassurances.

Despite his words flowing from his mouth, his gaze flickered to the environment around them. Not filled with life as one should expect when coming to this place. No birds flying through the skies and chirping and calling for one another, no sounds of humans moving and living their life, nothing of that sort. It is silence, beside the sound of buildings cracking under the destruction splashed across it or their voice ringing out. It made him wondered what more destruction will occur when they carry on and journey through this area. What creatures and manner of monsters will cross their paths and lay dead by blade or magic.

❝Fate is like that. All we could do is deal with whatever nonsense it puts us into. Against us or with us. I'll say the same to you though. As much as I can tell your jokes are nonstop and prepared to be fired away, you know what you are doing underneath it all.❞ Some will say others, stating he isn't taking things seriously. He make a comment about it, but he's not the type, unless the situation demands it. By far, this situation didn't demand the seriousness of this guy.

listen, i'm back home now, i'm thinking about things, and i saw the maxton hall gifset floating around and i was like. yk what. carrying people is elite content, and gdi y'all deserve elite content! as always, DO NOT ADD OR EDIT THIS LIST! and there's a lil spicy addition under the readmore, but i left it there just in case people prefer to have a not-so-spicy version.

[ SLUMBER ]: sender picks up and carries the receiver because they're so sound asleep that they won't easily wake up.

[ INTERCEPT ]: sender picks up and carries the receiver out of the room because they're angry and on the brink of engaging in a fight with someone.

[ ASSIST ]: sender picks up and carries the receiver away for medical attention because they've been injured and can't walk easily.

[ HELP ]: sender picks up and carries the badly wounded receiver as fast as possible to the nearest hospital or the nearest place to administer urgent first-aid.

[ ELATION ]: sender scoops up the receiver and carries them away after a mutual victory, or having just received very good news (or maybe they're both just very happy for some reason!)

[ HOME ]: sender picks up the receiver to carry them over the threshold of their new home.

[ AID ]: sender finds the receiver too weak to move, and scoops them up to carry them to get some help.

[ UP ]: sender finds the receiver and picks them up to carry them a distance after learning they're unable to get up.

[ OUT ]: sender grabs the receiver and lifts them into their arms after noticing them swaying and beginning to lose consciousness.

[ SCREAM ]: sender spots the receiver in a terrified or considerably panicked state, and picks them up to carry them to a less terrifying place to calm down.

[ LAZY ]: sender concedes to receiver's requests for a piggy-back ride home because they don't want to walk anymore, and carries them the rest of the distance home.

[ CAREFUL ]: sender gently lifts the receiver out of their seat and carries them carefully to bed after noticing they fell asleep and not wanting to waken them.

[ HASTE ]: in urgent need of getting to safety as fast as possible, the sender scoops up the receiver and starts running because it's quicker and easier to just carry them than expect them to keep pace.

[ FURTHER ]: sender, during an increasingly passionate make-out session with the receiver, suddenly takes them in their arms and carries them towards the bedroom to continue their evening in private.
