âMm,â she mumbled, looking away and processing the information in her head. Â Which, honestly, wasnât a lot to go on.
The quiet between them had been quickly drowned out by the sound of a phone ringing.  The office assistant line, to be exact (although, to be fair, all phone calls went through the assistant lines before being connected to Narcissa herself).  Angelique quickly rose from her seat and rushed to her desk to answer before the phone got to its third ring (it was considered a faux pas if it was anything after three rings).
âNarcissa Blackâs office, how may we help you?â she answered briskly.
âAngelique, is that you?â asked a familiar voice on the other line. Â âIâm in the car on my way to the airport. Â I need you and Erika to pick up a few things before I return. Â First of all, there is an order of fabric at Macculloch & Wallis, and one at Dalston Mill.â
Narcissa was speaking her list while Angelique was scrambling to grab a pen and notepad--her hasty scribbles near illegible while trying to keep up with her bossâ nonstop talking.
âThen I want fresh flowers from McQueenâs.  Anything purple or blue and white.  No, yellow.  Perhaps sunflowers.  Or green.  Hydrangeas are nice.â  The indecisiveness and quick fleeting thoughts were normal when trying to figure out her next color scheme.  Narcissa was always in search of some new palette for the next season to work on.  âI also want macarons.  Pick up a large box from Laduree--all their flavours.  And Iâll need my dinner from the usual place.  It needs to be at the ideal temperature when I arrive home, is that clear?â
âYes, Narcissa, of course,â Angelique replied, still trying to keep up with her bossâ commands onto paper.
âThe shop needs to be dusted and polished for our next appointments. Â Also, check all the receipts for whatever else Iâve ordered this month. Â I think everything should be done by now. Â That includes the shoes, labels, boxes, bags, and notion supplies. Â Thatâs all.â
Angelique was about to reply and had just about formed a word when she heard a click on the other line.
âWell, thatâs that, then.â Â She turned to Erika. Â âLooks like we have work to do.â
