Trans women are women and also people. Trans men are men and also people. Non-binary people are non-binary and also people. Being in any of these groups determines nothing about a person besides their being in said group. Being in any marginalized group says nothing about a person beyond their being in that group.

Good lord. I can't say the words "what do you mean" anymore, apparently, even in a clearly joking tone in a casual conversation about my food preferences. Or else I am, apparently, threatening and aggressive and confrontational and complaining too much and ungrateful and too negative etc etc etc. And apparently the appropriate response to that is going on an angry shouting rant about how horrible I am to be around and calling me all of the previously listed things. With a good amount of attempted guilt tripping too. And mocking. And now she's trying to apologize, mainly with guilt tripping, as if she didn't try and fail to apologize for the same damn thing yesterday. I just wanted dinner. And now dinner is on the floor, because what fucking use do I have for it now that it's both overcooked, potentially covered in bacteria from dirty dishes, and emotionally poisoned. I swear to God she ruins my food on purpose just so she can get mad at me for being upset about it.

Some people in asylums in the 50s were crazy. Some of them were psychotic, screaming at things nobody else could see. Some of them were aggressive, kicking and punching and biting without provocation. Some of them were a danger to themselves. Hell, some of them were a danger to others. And they were people. They were human beings. And all human beings deserve human rights, something those people, by law, didn't have.

Some people in mental hospitals now are crazy. Some of us are psychotic. Some of us are aggressive. Some of us are a danger to ourselves. Some of us are a danger to others. And we are still humans, who deserve human rights, which we legally do not have.

Some of us, a few of the crazy people you talk about, are exactly what you say we are. Psychotic, aggressive, a danger to ourselves and others. That doesnt change the fact that we are human. That doesnt change the fact that every individual human that exists, has ever existed, and will ever exist deserves human rights. That doesnt change the fact that we don't have those human rights in every situation. "Few of us are aggressive," while true as a statement, fails to acknowledge and insist that those of us who are still deserve to be treated with the same dignity and respect as any other person.

Me and my brother are damn near identical, even though we only share one parent. Same hair color, same skin tone, same facial features, and that's impressive given that we're half siblings and I was assumed to be female. The only real difference is my eyes are green and his are blue, and I have far more moles than average. My hair's curlier, too. And I'm 8 years older than him, too, so it's almost disturbing how similar we look. I guess we both mostly take after the parent we share.

And now she knows she's sufficiently pissed me off and is back to being nice again.

Can't have a casual conversation without it turning into an argument. Can't talk about casual topics without an argument. Can't have an argument without rapid subject changes and my words being twisted into accusations against me so I have to defend myself and my point all at once even when we were just having a perfectly casual conversation about a painting. I can't even be noticed without it turning into an argument half the time, because how dare I exist in my own home. She turned me cleaning my room and making coffee into an argument once.

I'm being forced to take a "mind and body wellness" class, it's required, and isn't that just a little bit ridiculous? It's contradictory to the point of feeling insensitive. It's almost an oxymoron, considering how distinctly unwell I am physically. it's a little insensitive, considering what they teach is mostly yoga and "don't do drugs, don't self harm, and don't starve yourself" and what the hell is that gonna do for me? Yoga will injure me, I don't do drugs, I don't have an eating disorder, and I don't self harm more than 5 times a year. I don't see how yoga and lectures about the dangers of starvation could possibly make me more well. I can probably put it off for a year or two, and by then I can obtain a medical exemption from the exercise part, but goddammit, I don't want to deal with more people pestering me about whether or not I think it could be anxiety making my joints slip out of their sockets. No, ma'am, I don't think anxiety is the cause of my crippling nerve pain. I don't think it's the cause of my joint instability either. No, I don't think anxiety causes my heart rate to triple specifically only when I raise my arms above my head, regardless of my emotional state. I highly doubt anxiety is the cause of my refusal to do squats, given that I know from experience they will more likely than not injure my hips, knees, and ankles, and then the rest of my joints when I have to hold myself differently because of that. And my mind is perfectly fine, not much you can do for my mental health, since I'm significantly more stable than could reasonably be expected of me.

And then there's the really annoying question. "You can't, or you won't?" Well, I can't do that without being injured and/or unable to move properly if at all for 2 hours and/or being in extreme pain for up to 3 days and/or falling down/passing out, and so I won't. Or I just literally can't move my body that way. Yes, I can walk, that doesn't mean I can play twister. Walking doesn't indicate any ability aside from walking.

You are not a good person by virtue of being gay.

you are not morally superior by virtue of being gay.

You are not incapable of perpetrating harm or bigotry by virtue of being gay.

You are not a safe person by virtue of being gay.

You are not immune to criticism by virtue of being gay.

You're just a person. And that means you're capable of being evil. You're capable of hurting others. You're capable of bigotry. You're capable of having shitty opinions that hurt people. You're capable of being racist, ableist, misogynistic, and so on, no more or less than any other person, and you're not exempt from criticism more than anyone else either. Your queerness is not a cop-out. Your queerness is not an excuse. Some of y'all would do well to remember that.

Perisex is perisex. Your transness is irrelevant to the conversation about intersexism. The queer community is just as intersexist as everybody else, and you don't get a special exemption from being called out for bigotry just because you're trans.

I hate nerve pain. Nothing does anything to it. Heat won't help, cold won't help, nothing will fix it or help it any amount except nerve pain medications and my next dose is in 10 hours. It's especially frustrating because this is breakthrough pain, and since all the other pain is diminished, I have to pay more attention to it.

Can we talk about how sometimes aspects or symptoms of physical disability can be traumatic just by themselves? I always see things that imply that all the trauma of disability is socially imposed, but, I mean.

I lost the ability to eat solid foods and any liquid more viscous than whole milk (safely, comfortably, enough to survive and maintain a healthy weight) about a year ago. Eating is so viscerally unpleasant, and has been for so long, that I have no interest in eating whatsoever. The thought of eating makes me upset and anxious. I have no desire to eat, even when I'm physically hungry. Looking at food I used to like makes me feel sick at worst and at best I'm just disinterested. I used to love food. I used to beg my mother for chocolate or cereal every time we went for groceries, and now I have zero interest in eating anything at all, and at times am actively scared of eating for fear of The Symptoms I have every time I eat. I would consider that some kind of trauma, when I used to love eating and now am actively opposed to it due to the severe physical discomfort it causes. This doesn't have anything to do with ableism. It's not anything to do with doctors or other people. The symptom itself is the cause.

Has anyone else had a similar experience, where the symptom itself caused trauma without any medical or interpersonal aspects to it?

I hate when parents of physically disabled teenagers (and disabled children too, but this applies more to teenagers) talk about mourning their child's "lost health," or missing "what they could have been had they not become/been born disabled." Or just expressing any negative emotion about their child's disability, like "I'm angry that the world took my normal child from me" and the like. Or even just "I'm sad I got a cripple instead of the child I wanted" (paraphrased, that's what's usually implied)

You as an able bodied person don't have the right to mourn someone else's loss/lack of health and/or ability. You definitely don't have the right to mourn a hypothetical able bodied child when the existing one was born disabled. You don't have the right to feel anything about someone else's disability, honestly, you signed up for the possibility of having a disabled child by choosing to raise them. You don't get to decide if it's sad. You don't get to decide if it's frustrating. You don't get to decide if it needs mourning. It's not yours to feel about. It doesn't have a goddamn thing to do with you!

My family doesn't get a say in how I feel about my disability. My family doesn't get a say in whether my disability is tragic or not. It's not theirs to feel about. It doesn't have anything to do with them.

Yeah, I get that caring for a disabled person is difficult and you weren't expecting it. You're allowed to feel how you like about that. You're allowed to be frustrated by the caring part. But you don't get to have an emotion about the disability itself, the fact that it exists in the first place, because the disability itself isn't yours and has nothing to do with you. Let the disabled person decide what should be felt about the disability itself, and you can feel however you want about the parts that actually affect you. And don't take it out on them. Don't even mention it to them.

And please stop exploiting your severely/profoundly physically disabled children and teens on social media. At the very least censor any and all identifying features. Stop giving the internet someone else's medical information, stop putting their names and faces and identifying features out there for everyone to see, especially if they haven't given informed consent for you to do so, aren't capable of doing that, or aren't able/free to revoke consent (and given that these children would likely die without your care, they're probably too scared to upset you for it to be consent in the first place).

And for God's sake, stop referring to disability as "special needs." What's special about it? You can refer to low support needs neurodivergence as neurodivergence and disability, but the second a severely and/or physically disabled person pops into view you have to come up with ridiculous and meaningless words to avoid calling a disability what it is? Why is disability so terrifying a concept that you have to dress it up in meaningless flowery language to make it palatable?

Do strength training so doctors can't physically force you into procedures you don't want (if that's possible for you)

If the doctor wants to do surgery on my throat, I'm refusing. I don't want throat surgery. It's possible that's the best option, or the best option could be something else, but I don't want surgery. I reserve the right to refuse treatments I don't want.
