i have so many insane feelings about it's the great pumpkin sam winchester. imagine you're sam you pray to god every night you're desperate to believe in angels while fighting demons on the daily. the first time you meet one he reduces you to the worst thing about you. the thing that keeps you up at night the thing that you didn't choose for yourself. then you find out angels aren't merciful. they're ruthless. they're soldiers. they want to raze a whole town. the same town that's in the line of fire of an all-powerful demon. you can stop the demon. the worst thing about you, the one that was forced onto you? you can do something good with it and save the town. your brother doesn't want you to. you have no choice. you stop the demon. your brother looks at you like you're a monster. he can only see the thing that is Wrong with you. not the thing that you did that was good. it doesn't matter what you do. it only matters what you are.

the list of horrible things i have to say about john winchester is endless. if john winchester has 0 haters that means i’m dead!

the man couldn’t be bothered to get dean out of the reform house he stayed in for 2 months after dean was caught stealing food for his brother. i get that it all boiled down to him losing the money because of a card game, so he opted to steal instead of just telling his dad. dean’s actions speak volumes about what kind of dad john was. dean would rather face the possibility of an imprisonment than ask his dad for help.

and then, when dean finally started acclimating to a normal teenage life, john couldn’t even give his son one last night and let him go to prom. it was like it pained john seeing dean thriving and not having dean shoulder his responsibility of raising sam.

it’s honestly so embarrassing for john how sonny was a much better dad than he ever was. dean flourished while he was in that reform house. he was part of the wrestling team, became the overall champion, had amazing grades, had friends, and a girlfriend.

a part of me thinks the reason john never gave the boys a chance at normalcy is because he was miserable. and if john was miserable, so should his sons, apparently.

early seasons sam winchester is like. you're just a kid who wants to run away from home you want to build a life for yourself you want to escape the confines of your family's expectations you're an 18-year-old eagerly awaiting graduation a 16-year-old desperate to get their driver's license a 13-year-old realizing their parents aren't good people you're a cliche you want out. you love your brother so inescapably you let him drag you around the country in search of your deadbeat father and you keep your mouth shut when you want to say, do we really have to find him? you try and try to let yourself leave but it keeps dragging you down like a ball and chain like an obligation like a sin like repentance nightmares in the passenger seat grief in the back of your mind this is my brother and i need a shovel to love him grief in the back of your mind you know you know you know you can't go back to california you can bite and scratch and beg but you can never go back to a halloween party and your college girlfriend and you keep thinking, one more hunt, you keep thinking, we just need to find dad, but you're a goner! it's too late it's over it's done and you know it is and you die for the first time in your brother's arms and you've been dead since you watched your girlfriend burn on the ceiling. you could've had it all and it always had to be like this. or something idk

sam winchester is the boy who never moves on and i appreciate it so much. in a cw show where death is a one episode plot and grief is never addressed or shown how it effects a person, there’s sam. 15 seasons later thinking about his dead college girlfriend, the only time he had a life for himself. truly insane. jess dying fundamentally altered sam and he never got past it. jessica moore you were so loved.
