Digging through my sims files and found my favorite alien Xena Ao xD
Over the next few days, a local stray began to take a liking to me. I wasn't entirely thrilled at the idea of this mangy mutt following me, but...
He did have a special charm to him.
I'm having trouble making friends, but one of my customers makes it a point to be nice to me.
"You're new, right?" the man asked.
"Yep..."
"My name is Simis Bachelor."
"Laicia Valenti."
"I don't think I've heard anyone with that name before." Simis said.
"Me neither. Think it's French or something. Parents never really said."
"Did they move with you?"
I knew I should have used my better judgement, but I felt as though I could trust Simis. He seemed friendly enough. Plus, he had mentioned having a daughter.
"No, it's just me."
He made a face. I wasn't sure if it was pity, but he smiled quickly after making it before saying, "Well, Laicia, if you need anything here's my number. Really. Even if it's someone to talk to."
He handed me a card. I glanced at it and noticed it held his cellphone number and hours.
"Anytime." He spoke firmly.
Unsure of what else to say, I simply nodded.
Okay, the free snow cones are pretty good.
Leisure Day...
Nothing really leisurely about it. Still, I needed to get out of the house more.
Meteors falling from the sky.
Odd things happen around this town it seems...
Lucky for me, no one seemed to care about this space rock and I was able to submit it to the science lab.
They sent me a check of $3,000. Not enough to live off of, but at least now I can live in something a bit better than a shack. At least I had a stove.
On my way home, I spotted a wild herd.
I knew a few roamed the town and the valley beyond, but I didn't think I would actually see it.
It was a helpful reminder to know that I was free like them.
The only place in town that was hiring was a grocery store. They wouldn't even give me full time, even though I had open availability. I tried to take it as a blessing. This gave me more time to work on my art.
To celebrate, I spend the day at the beach. It didn't cost anything, and it made me forget my troubles...just for a bit.
The free community museum gave me a place to go.
New exhibits were always being shown. I couldn't help but feel as though I were better than these artists. I was definitely full of myself.
No matter how much I concentrated, my work never sold. I tried new techniques, and attempted to even implement the local plant life in my work, but all anyone could tell me was, "You have potential."
Potential is not going to pay the bills. I needed to get a job.
My name is Laicia Valenti.
I'm alone in this world.
Sometimes, I'd like to think I don't mind it this way, but those late nights when I lie awake, I wish my life turned out differently.
How is this anyway for someone to live? A shack with the fridge outside. At least there were useful things: a shower, a toilet. Some weren't so lucky.
My sketchpad will probably be the only thing keeping me sane in the days to come.

Getting things ready for next year! Going to put a couple stat spreads and then this will be all set for January! #bookjournal #readingjournal #books #bookstagram #reading #bulletjournal #bulletjournaling #bujo #journaling https://www.instagram.com/p/Cl4PJcdJKnO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
I got this book through Amazon First Reads and it took me a couple of years to get to it, but here we are! I wanted to like this book and I did during the first 25% of it. I was invested in the mystery, trying to figure out the “why”, the “who” and I was actively trying to engage in some of the guesswork, but there was just a few things that just held me back. Every little thing was explained in such excruciating detail. We got a step by step on the protagonist folding a piece of paper, we even got super unnecessary details on how the calender and contacts apps work on an android. It was almost as if the author thought the readers were stupid and we’ve never seen a smart phone in our lives or been on the internet. Not to mention the dialogue/plot are full of clichés. There’s no real challenge and things just happen to work out for our main guy. I think I shouted “things don’t work like that” a bunch of times. Things felt rushed after a certain point and a plot point that could have been really interesting seemed to have been abandoned. Once I reached a certain point in the novel, I had no desire to continue reading when I got there, but I was determined. I won’t be continuing the series and if you like this book and author, good for you but neither are for me.
