sex tests were historically done primarily at higher levels of sports to exclude people who were assigned female at birth but are biologically male and hence should not compete in the women's category.

for kids and amateurs, you could generally trust that someone's identification or birth certificate listed their sex correctly and use that to determine the categories. however, people like op have supported policies that mean the sex listed on your id and in some cases even your birth certificate is a complete fiction. hence the need to test younger kids to determine eligibility and ensure girls can compete fairly in their own category.

if we could actually trust the sex listed in official records to match your actual sex, there would be no discussion about sex tests for lower level/amateur sports. you brought this on yourselves by insisting that the listed sex in official records should not reflect your actual sex.
