Astor’s voice had been a throb of noise among the silence, as the morning brought a dewy, sticky quietude to the streets of the city. He had been walking to walk, aimless and meandering in an attempt to wake himself enough to function, having only stolen a few precious hours of sleep.
“Could you direct me to an open coffeehouse, if you please?”
He had attempted to find it, himself. With no technology to rely on for opening times, he had stooped to the level of the youth he so loathed to speak with.
