"You’re lonely too."
𝑰𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒌𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕, wasn’t something she wanted to acknowledge or bring to light because that would somehow make the ache inside of her chest more than just a phantom lurking in the dark corners of her mind. The word alone caused a cave in somewhere inside of her chest and for a moment too long, her guard faltered and the truth could be easily read on every inch of her porcelain features. The depths of her loneliness reflected in her gaze causing golden hues to shift into something darker, something distant. It was foolish for her to feel such things. After the life she’d lead, feeling lonely was part of her story. Unwanted from her very first breath with few who truly cared for her throughout all her years, but it hadn’t made things easier and after all that she’d went through to get here — all that she’d lost and sacrificed for the sake of her kingdom still sung their painful melodies just loud enough for it to cause the wounds to never heal.
But just as quickly as the word had stuck it’s chord, she’d pushed it back down hoping to suffocate it until she was in the comfort of her room. ❛ I believe that is part of the game we play Tristan, ❜ The words are articulated with care and practiced grace. ❛ The weight of the crown is far heavier than most would imagine. ❜
