CeCe Rogers on Facebook writes: "Two Black Tennessee lawmakers were physically escorted out of chambers this week while Republicans quietly held a hearing to approve gerrymandered maps that would eliminate the state's only majority-Black congressional district.
No referendum. No special election. No public vote.
Because they know what happens when voters actually get a say — just look at Virginia, where the people spoke so loudly that Republicans had to drag the courts in to override them.
This isn't new. During Reconstruction, Black Americans held more congressional seats than at any point in the prior 90 years of American history. And white supremacists spent the next several decades tearing that down, through gerrymandering, poll taxes, and voter intimidation.
150 years later, the same tools. Different suits.
The audacity of escorting Black lawmakers out of their own chambers while dismantling Black political representation, and then telling us the courts aren't political, is breathtaking. These are the same courts they're counting on to make it stick.
This is a coordinated, multi-front assault on Black Americans. And we need to say it exactly that plainly."
women literally hate female characters for the smallest mistakes lmao, believe me if it were up to women there wouldn't be such a thing as a female character
how many women and girls died out of this, and how many boys grew up to become murderers bc of this
Aftermath of ch. 431, they all get home and think of a special someone.
I first started this animation when the manga chapter came out, but didn't finish it back then. So in the end I'm posting it after the animated version came out and lowkey I don't feel so angsty about it anymore haha
"We never got over our highschool crushes" they all say in unison

I was scrolling through Facebook when I found a post that was talking about "My Hero Academia: More". It was as it often tends to be about ship discourse, as you can imagine it ended up being an IzuOcha vs BakuDeku post, so as a Multishipper who's been in the fandom for 12 years I felt compelled to write a comment, I decided to share it here too.
My thoughts on this, from someone who's been here since chapter 3 and has navigated the fandom for 12 years now.
Ship-related issues mostly stem from people who navigate fandom spaces without knowing that these "places" have rules. One of them is that while playing with canon, fanon, and ships is fun, you have to know where to draw the line; you cannot pretend fanon is canon. You can't harass authors about fandom stuff!
Do I usually lean more toward other ships for Izuku?
Yes, because the fanfic writers I like tend to write about other pairings. And this isn't just about BakuDeku or yaoi stuff, guys; there's a whole world of opportunities when it comes to him (for example, I really enjoy Izuku x Hatsume—it's a really fun ship to play with when we head into "fanon land").
Do I like Izuku x Ochako?
Yes, they are really cute! Always have been!
Was Izuku x Ochako endgame?
Obviously! It's been hinted at since chapter 3, and it had a few very significant moments throughout the whole story!
Would I have preferred for the whole thing to be developed in a different way?
YES! Horikoshi seems like a nice guy, and My Hero Academia is one of my favorite manga ever; it's been my safe space for years, and I've always considered Izuku a sort of "manga twin." However, he is not too great at writing women, in my opinion. Compared to other depictions of women in manga, this might seem fine, but the bar really was that low... And it kills me because, honestly, Ochako is a great character, but other than those very few incredibly significant moments throughout the story, there wasn't enough. The moments she's given are amazing, but that's not enough, in my opinion.
Horikoshi gives so much space to his male characters, but not enough to his women; when you don't develop characters, they can feel less appealing to explore in fanon for relationship play (both romantic and platonic) compared to characters who have more development, which is why people might prefer more "fun" or dynamic pairings. I wish we could have had more canon moments between Izuku and Ochako, considering where it ended...
And especially NOT just in an extra chapter!
Having said this, what really makes me mad is the behavior of certain fans who act like kindergarteners. Again, that's not just BakuDeku or IzuOcha shippers, or any other specific ship—I'm talking about all of them.
If you wanna join fandom spaces, learn the rules and don't act like you own the place.
Even though I'm oftentimes not very good at properly explaining my thoughts, I wanted to share my opinion with you all, in the hope it could open the opportunity for a respectful dialogue.
I think this is mainly a twitter/tiktok thing as most ppl prefer to gain traction in their posts over actually posting for fun.
And while I agree ppl take things too seriously with ships, I can't help but need to add something about the whole "it was clear they were going to be dating since chapter 3".
It was clear since the beginning they were going to date. And that All Might will die. And that Katsuki will turn into a villain.
MHA is all about breaking expectations on popular shonen tropes, so its not crazy to believe/interpret these two as not canon as thru the whole manga Deku didnt have a romantic arc, or at the very least that a romantic arc shouldn't be the focus of Ochako's character.
Because she did give her one, and even her villain focuses on such topics (tho they also relate to past trauma and heroism), this turns into a misogyny issue too, as her character starts losing more and more characteristics that made her contrast with Deku (even sharing the same goal, perspective, and ending with their villains).
I also believe the romantic reading for 431, at least the one "meant to be", was around giving a set up so she could confess in the future, as Deku starts focusing on his personal relationships outside of treating everyone with the same level of respect; without an actual confession right after we get two explicit ones (Ochako remembering hers during the fight and Himiko towards her), no montage nor thoughts of him realizing romantic feelings (giving us a blank space to write ourselves whatever we want), nor blushing when supposedly confessing or realizing it, it just perpetuates the inequality in the "romantic arc". Poor choices easily avoidable.
If he isn't even allowed to seriously think about it, reflect on it, or admit such feelings even once, that's a terrible set up if we were supposed to see it as "oh yeah he just now noticed he's been loving her for 8 years without realizing and has the need to confess, finally!" when we are casual or dont care for that ship; I believe it makes more sense to see it as an opportunity Ochako has (at least giving her the chance to have autonomy over this; taking it away too and making him confess all of the sudden, when it was never his deal or issue, seem to me like making her character feel more like a puppet than someone who can choose what to do with herself and her feelings), now that Deku is actively trying to be more open/focused on personal relationships over being polite and respecting everyone equally, and that Ochako is learning to do what she wants over responsibility/duty.
Which would explain why we don't get anything too romantic, as the author doesn't want to write that kind of thing for Deku, so we are able to create more interesting storylines using this set up, or ignore it if we prefer something else from the series.
This wouldn't solve the main problems with the series and Ochako, but at least wouldn't feel as random as to just making them date in the last chapter with no build up from Izuku's part (bc he has no romantic arc while she heavily does carry it all).
If Ochako was a guy, people would say that they are canon, that the talk Izuku had with Bakugo prove it, that it was obvious that they liked each other and that they’re talk proved that they wanted a more intimate relationship but because she’s a girl, the scene means nothing and it was just a high five anyway so I doesn’t prove anything and they’re so sibling coded anyway. Like it’s not because the ship is cannon now that you can’t ship another person with the character.
( Im only talking about the side of the fan who loves gay pair more then anything in the story, not the one who look at you with disgust when you talk about it. )
Horikoshi meant to make an open ending which is why he avoids actually giving a yes or not answer about them and making certain choices in that extra (like giving a romantic set up in their scene together and ending with a hand shake).
The point is for you to interpret how YOU want instead of focusing too much on a concrete answer to something he admittedly didn't want to write (a romantic arc for Izuku).
The ppl who dont care about this ship also can interpret it different from you, and its okay.
my favorite dynamic for izuocha is mlm wlw solidarity bc i honestly don’t love them together romantically, but also bc i just think it’s cute to think about them meeting up for lunch regularly to gush about their partners together. they’re both the lovey type it is such a good dynamic to me. ochako gushing abt tsu while izuku gets to ramble abt the latest updates between him and katsuki
Anyone else remember the brief rumor when 431 first got leaked and roughly translated, that someone insinuated that Katsuki had gotten married to some unnamed/unshown woman?
