Screen Art - Workshops diary
Week 1:
Video workshop: Glenn showed us about different parts of a camera and how to adjust a camera for recording videos. We then took turns and tried to record different short clips outside of the lab. Photograph workshop: Issi showed us how to use a camera for taking photos. We learned how to adjust the lens for focus, about the ISO, sutter speed and aperture. After that, she took us to the back field to give a try. We then took photos of each other.
Week 2:
Sound workshop: Glenn taught us how to use a Zoom Recorder to record sound. We then went outside to record 3 different sounds in group of 2: a loud sound, a quiet sound and a sound of voice speaking. After that, we learned how to use a soundboard to make changes on the records that we’ve made. We also talked about how the movies made their sound effects, such as: Using half frozen celery stem to mimic the sound of broken bone. Lighting studio workshops: Issi taught us how to use flashlights and difference light sources in photo shooting. We then try to take photos with flashlights and light set up from different angles, which give different result. We also used some thin cellophanes in different colours to make different light colours.
Week 3:
Lighting studio workshop: This time we learned from Glenn how to set up a lighting studio for taking videos. There were a few trouble with the lighting however Glenn had managed to fix it. We also learned that different angles of the objects, according to the screen and the light set up, will also give different results in our video.
