I was reminiscing about some old artwork I did, and I remembered these pieces I made trying to emulate the 'room' of my three sharkfolk characters, Roberto, Tiago, and Aria, in Animal Crossing, according to each of their personalities and backstories. 🦈✨

my super inflammatory game design opinion is that no game should ever encourage you to to play every day. yes, this includes animal crossing.

I complained about this the other day but Animal Crossing literally puts roaches in your house if you stop playing, and makes you return for days in a row and squash all of the roaches before they go away. Villagers react in disgust if they come into your house like this

There have been times I’ve tried to get back into Animal Crossing, but that outright disdain for a player who doesn’t play every day is clear. It punishes you for taking a break and the punishment is more daily log ins.

Also you have to go on an apology shame tour where all your villiagers guilt you mercilessly the next time you interact with them and it’s like holy shit I don’t need this from cartoon animals. Just let me it on my little outfits and move around trees in peace you guys

tom nook is NOT a landlord!!! he is a construction worker! he SELLS you a WHOLE HOUSE! He is not CHARGING YOU however many bells a month to live there! You PURCHASE a HOME that he BUILDS FOR YOU and then you PAY HIM FOR HIS SERVICE. He charges no interest he sets no time limit it is a relationship built on trust. the only penalty you get for not paying off your home is that he won't build more home until you pay him for the first one. A guy that builds you a house wherever you want him to and then charges you for the cost of construction is not a landlord you own the fucking home
