In March 1999, Fan Man-Yee was kidnapped because of a financial dispute by three Hong Kong gangsters - Chan Man-lok, Leung Shing-cho, and Leung Wai-lun. Fan endured over a month of horrific torture before she died. She was then dismembered and various pieces of her body were boiled and cooked. Her skull was then stuffed inside a large Hello Kitty doll.

The murder was only discovered when one of the three gangsters’ girlfriends, who had also participated in Fan’s torture, came forward. She told the police everything. The three were all sentenced to life without parole
