The eleventh episode of Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk is another one of those that captures a lot of emotions. For Chang and Kanade, it's the beginnings of a possible relationship as one side works to get past rejection while the other warms to the person appearing from that fog. For Botan and Ibuki, it's dealing with the unease of feeling like you aren't quick clicking with the person you're in a relationship with. And for the time Akane and Botan are together, it's confiding in a friend a stressful life question you're needing to resolve. A lot to work through, with the fear change could involve loss.

The eleventh episode of Gals Can't Be Kind of Otaku!? continues the school festival with an appearance by Kotoko's little brothers - who were disappointed they missed Sayu. Besides that, there was a little fun between our trio as well as the next day a bit of time where each of the girls realize they hadn't seen Takuya. The closing ceremony fireworks are getting closer, what will our group end up doing? And which girl is likely gonna end up in the "Miss and Mister" pageant.
Alright, pack it up people, forget Takuya, we're turning Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!? into something entirely different in episode 11. 😳
Watching the fifteenth episode of Classroom of the Elite S4 it's clear we're approaching the end because everything is ramping up. Damn this show can get really violent when things come to a head. That and the different alliances are interesting to watch come into view.
Kiddy Grade was one of the first series I’d watched, purchasing DVDs from the local Best Buy in the mid 00′s. I don’t remember how I found it but it’s lived on as a memorable for a number of reasons.
Lets start with a summary. Kiddy Grade is set in a future where worlds are colonized and people travel across space freely. Order and peace is maintained by the GOTT, or Galactic Organization of Trades and Tariffs, though various efforts, both bureaucratic & enforcement. The latter of those is the focus of this story, Éclair and Lumiere serving as main characters and ES Members.
Spanning 24 episodes, the show features a wide set of characters to intrigue you, as well as storylines that build up to meaningful crescendos. The different ES members and other GOTT individuals you get introduced to each play their own pivotal roles, as well as bare details of the girls’ pasts. The overarching themes introduced slowly tear apart the pristine image of reality, making you wonder just how peace and order can be obtained, and if those who have it are welding it for good ends. There’s so many angles KG explores and I found them all fascinating, even the occasions it got bogged down.
Looping back to characters, there’s an element of KG that I forget about - it has two strong female leads. Éclair and Lumiere largely hold their own though the whole show, whether that’s fighting robots, galactic criminals, or even … well, you’ll find out. That’s worth a bit. Certainly, you can take that down a notch when you get into the fanservice elements of the show, but still.
There’s also the heavy dose of life lessons sprinkled in, whether for you to take in or just reflect upon the characters facing them. Humans are greedy, therefore they are human - that one’s still in my head all these years later. The idea that eternal youth might be more trouble than it’s worth. That dividing people by class is problematic. And how sometimes we’re led astray by good motives. None of it is monumental, but nice to reflect upon wrapped up in a show.
Recommended? Yes. Certainly, I may have warm feelings because it was one of the first series to get me into anime, but I think the story holds up all these years later. Changing the galaxy, fighting your internal demons, dealing with your past, dealing with others turning on you, the show has a lot inside. If any of this sounds interesting to you it’s streaming over on Funimation.
Side comment - They did an English edition of the OP and ED for this show and - I to this day do not understand why, but also, like, why?
Doing a rapid run of this show over on @anipast since I wanted to switch things up. Even seeing just the captures in this post make me reminisce a little how it feels like it's been awhile since I've seen a series of this type that's pulled me in. Times change, or something.
Positive situation or not, when the serious side of Ayanokoji shows it's just so damned cold in the anime take of Classroom of the Elite.

A few captures from episode 10 of Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk. This felt like a departure as we spent some time with Chang and Kanade, which showed a little progress, plus got to see Akane & Yaeka in a mildly couple-like moment. Botan always has a hand in things here, for better or worse. The ending skit was pretty entertaining too, not being able to figure out exactly what was happening until we finally saw that Ibuki was on a video call the whole time. Leave her some alcohol.

The tenth episode of Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!? was nice as we finally got to see everyone's cosplay. Kotoko was in a maid outfit, very normal. Takuya was in his Lord Earth cosplay, which we've seen before and looked good. Kei? While some may have wanted something more, we got her as a vampire character from that show she enjoys, and then a specific type of gal. It was a little bit of a disappointment to Sayu, though her dropping by also meant she got to see how Kei acts out of the house, as well as contemplate just how much she could mess with her (but doesn't). A fun episode on the whole with the lurking fireworks moment coming, plus another contest that could divide our group.
While there isn't a true pairing in Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!? it does feel like there's a case for Kei and Takuya with their otaku tendencies.
A few captures from the fourteenth episode of Classroom of the Elite S4. We're still in a period building up to the end, Rokusuke having to fend off some of the students that appear to want to stall his progress, while inklings of the plot to take down Kiyotaka are bubbling up. Seems it'll be interesting how they attempt to take him down.
Scared about what? Have some water.
The ninth episode of Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk breached a lot of different barriers. Chang continues to be a catalyst here, getting Ibuki to drink with her and Kanade, as well as getting Ibuki to say that she enjoys drinking with Botan most. That very much sinks the last of Kanade's hopes, though we're getting clear signals that Chang has feelings for our forgotten girl. Beyond this, we also see Botan be a little uneasy with Ibuki while they're off on a trip, something that Ibuki can feel, but it's all worth it because we finally get a love confession between the two of them. Saying that much shouldn't be a spoiler this deep into the season, and it's worth watching because the way they go about it really underlines the underlying nerves both have going into being this open with another person. As uncomfortable as moments in this episode can be, I think that makes it great because it captures so many feelings with little glances and bits of dialogue that pay off (or feel like they'll pay off in the future).
