I am curious as to what Shi Mei's plan was if the time travel wasn't the first option. Because I highly doubt (and hope) his whole plan was to destroy one world to the point that Mo Ran would kill himself thus sending his memories/personality/whatever through time/to a different time line entirely so that Shi Mei could further break him down to the point that Mo Ran wouldn't be able to argue. Or was his plan to go back in time himself and somehow change that?

Either way you just know that he was pissed that Mo Ran was the one to find Chu Wanning's soul back in vol. 3

One day, I'm going to write fix-it comfort fluff fic that features someone telling Chu Wanning that he did his best and he doesn't have to be perfect so that I can give him some fucking comfort

Call it a gut feeling, but it almost feels like this isn't Shi Mei's even second go round. Just watch there be a third timeline where Shi Mei didn't pretend to like Mo Ran, and in that one, Chu Wanning and Mo Ran got together no problem but Shi Mei went insane and started messing around with time to stop the two of them from ever being happy together

Shi Mei don't act like your hands are any fucking cleaner! You just admitted to manipulating him! He may have picked up the knife, but you laid the knife out, pointed him in the direction, and then guided his hand the entire time!

I do think it's really funny that Shi Mei is trying to get away as quickly as he can, because he knows that if Chu Wanning wakes up, it'll be Mo Ran that gets chosen

If Mo Ran weren't in such emotional distress, I would suggest that he challenge Shi Mei's hypothesis that Chu Wanning would never forgive him. Because a man who can't forgive you doesn't break through time to make sure you can never be manipulated again.
