Kishi is a hypocrite. NaruHina was not planned from the beginning. Manga disagrees with what he said.

I understand that he’s the writer and that he can do anything he wants to with his series, but lying about it isn’t helping anyone here. 

It’s obvious that Kishi is lying when he stated in the interview that he decided early on that Naruto will marry Hinata. That’s BS and everyone knows that.

The series contradicts everything he said here. In the entire canon manga, Naruto has not once showed any romantic feelings towards Hinata. He hasn’t shown anything that would lead us to believe he had feelings for her. It was all Sakura. It wasn’t “Kishi giving NS some screen time” in order to create a “love triangle”. 

Manga gave us the impression that NaruSaku was going to be endgame. Manga told us that Naruto loved her endlessly and in the end, he will win her heart. That’s what the manga showed. Naruto never noticed Hinata through all this. He never noticed her in a different light. She was a friend to him, like shikimaru was to him. Nothing more. Nothing to suggest anything more. This is what the manga showed us. This is what Kishi wanted us to see. Yet he’s over here lying to us in order to damage control the ending and his decision to go with NH and SS.

He was obviously lying when he said those words. Authors sometimes do that in order to damage control. Kishi knows the ending wasn’t as well received as he hoped it’d be.  Part of that reason was the pairings in the end. How he destroyed Sakura’s character in a blink of an eye. How he had to change Naruto’s character in order to fit in with Hinata. He knows all that. that’s why he’s saying all those BS statements. He wants to damage control and make it seem like he knew what he was doing the entire time. That he planned it all. But in reality, he didn’t. The manga shows us exactly what his intentions early on were. He planned for Naruto to end up with Sakura. He changed his mind towards the end because Sakura had a lot of haters and he decided to “save” his series by making Naruto end up with Hinata in order to please the “fans”. He didn’t care that the series would be in jeopardy, all he cared about was ending the series and ending it with the maximum potential for more money. (NH and SS both having children and being on the same team which would create another series to grab even more money).

“Kishi gave NS development in order to ‘create a love triangle’ with Hinata.” He never gave Hinata enough development with Naruto to warrant her being in a love triangle with Naruto and Sakura. She was never in the mix. She was always at a distance. And Naruto never noticed her in that way. She was just a friend, like Kiba. Sakura on the other hand was much more than a friend. She was his team mate, and the girl he was in love with. In Naruto’s eyes, there wasn’t anyone else except Sakura. He would’ve done anything he could have to protect her, even pushing her towards the other guy she loved. That’s how strong his love for her was. 

So when Kishi says that he always planned for NH to happen, i say where? You never showed us any substantial hints towards Naruto returning Hinata’s feelings? You always showed us Naruto’s love for Sakura. 

If Kishi truly planned for Hinata to be Naruto’s wife early on, i think he would’ve developed NH more, no? I think he would’ve gave us hints that Naruto returns her feelings? He should have focused on NH instead of NS if he truly wanted NH to be end game.

But he didn’t. Which leads me to believe that he planned for NS in the beginning, and changed his mind towards the end to please the haters who do nothing but hate Sakura. Based on the story, NaruSaku was the most plausible ship. This is manga fact and Kishi can’t back peddle enough to make all this disappear.

are just stupid red herrings and not of importance. I guess Sakura is just another Kiba and not of importance. I guess Hinata is the real heroine despite being on Kiba’s team and less relevant than him throughout the series. I guess NaruHina had development. I guess this makes sense.

I hate Kishi who lie to us =_=

Now Kishi will say anything to justify the unjustified end. But his interviews very often contain inconsistencies, especially when he starts talking about the pairs. Lies about NH we can easily identify at least 3 arguments:

1) if NH were defined from the beginning, why is he forgot to give NH children the Byakugan before releasing final? It’s too stupid a mistake for a couple who he allegedly “planning from the beginning”.

2) It’s been a long time after the chapter 700, but Kishi still continues to justify about canon couples, as if he’s trying to impress to us. But if canon was definitely from the start, then why he continued justify for canon couples as he’ve done something wrong?

3) If Naruto and Hinata were to stay together in the end, why Kishi gave us development and held various parallels with MinaKushi? What these intrigues, if he now says that NH was obvious? Why not give more development and joint moments for NH? Even SNS and bad SS got at least some interaction. NH received nothing. And even “the last” couldn’t justify NH. So Kishi continues to make excuses as a naughty child.

Conclusion: Kishimoto got caught in his lies. It is obvious that he planned Narusaku as canon, but at some point in 2012, he suddenly decided to make NH. Unfortunately he was not able to correctly eliminate “white spots” in manga, so NH turned out to be illogical.

In SS case all is even sadder, because Kishi admitted that still can’t think of a reason why Sasuke has fallen in love with Sakura. Sakura “love” was understandable, but whence came Sasuke’s feelings? Kishi can’t think.

It is the whole truth. NH is canon, indisputable, but this couple will always be unfounded and false ending, no matter how much Kishi (and others as him) tried to convince otherwise.

I know you're a sasunaru shipper but in your opinion do you think Sakura or Hinata is the heroine? (or who would at least be better). Because I think Hinata has done more to help Naruto. Like, she risked her life twice for Naruto, helped him when Obito was messing with Nar's mind and he even said 'thanks to you who stayed by my side' (he's clearly stating that she was always by his side), he held her hand etc. I mean, what did Sakura ever do to be called the 'heroine' ? :)

No, I don’t think Hinata is a better heroine than Sakura. Hinata’s mere existence is there to serve a man. She has no backbone, she never won a fight, she never followed her dreams. In the end, she became a housewife who couldn’t care less about the everlasting slavery in her clan. Without Naruto, she can’t succeed. 

See, there are many different forms of strength a person can have. However, in a literary sense, if you want a character to appear strong, you have to develop them well. It’s about their function as a character in the story. So a character who isn’t necessarily a strong person can still be considered strong. A heroine should be naturally heroic, but not all heroines are heroic in the same way. A heroine needs good traits. She might not always show them, but if she comes across as a complete bitch, readers will most likely don’t see anything heroic in her.

It’s important to avoid making a heroine weak. She can’t turn into a doormat; she has to stand up for herself and think for herself. Obviously, neither Hinata nor Sakura fit the bill. Sakura has her own problems. She represents the “tough” girl that gets calmed down by her husband and becomes obedient. But if I had to choose, I’d go for Sakura because she isn’t as one-dimensional as Hinata, although her character development is inconsistent.

To be honest, it’s quite ignorant to say Hinata has done more to help Naruto. First of all, you are reducing her status as a heroine to a male character. This is not what a true heroine is about. All Hinata has achieved so far is connected to Naruto. She has no achievements or importance outside of Naruto. This certainly does not help her case. Sakura has achievements of her own that aren’t related to any guy.

Hinata chose to jump in and—as she said so herself—selfishly put herself in danger in order to express her feelings. Again, she was fully aware that she was going to die. She was fully aware that she was going to die in front of Naruto; yet, she didn’t care. She was fully aware that it was a prime opportunity to confess to Naruto without having to face a possible rejection since she would be dead. That’s not heroic; it’s cowardly and insane.

When was the second time? 

Do you mean this? 

Um, saying “It’s thanks to you who stayed by my side” is not the same as saying “You were always by my side.” That means he thanks her in the context of her actions right at that very moment. Nothing more, nothing less. Holding Naruto’s hand is not really… you know, heroic. 

What has Sakura done? For one, she’s a main character, something Hinata cannot say about herself. But to answer your question, besides being the only ninja without any special abilities and yet proving herself by practising incredible control over her chakra, inhuman strength, excellent medical skills, catching up with two of the strongest ninjas in the world, believing in her best friend Naruto’s ability to accomplish anything he puts his mind to, and being trained by the Fifth Hokage herself, nothing much.

After Naruto’s fight with Pain, Sakura is the one that hugs Naruto, not Hinata. Naruto doesn’t even think about Hinata’s well-being at this point. Or what about Sai telling Sakura that the things she does are out of love for Naruto? Or Yamato and Kakashi who both recognise that the two interact in quite intimate ways with each other? I realise my reply is turning into a shipping debate, welp.

Also, this. The hero saves the heroine, one of the most typical romantic tropes existing. The heroine is in a fix. She has tried everything. She doesn’t know what to do anymore. When all hope seems lost, the hero comes in at the last minute and helps the heroine, causing her to fall in love with him. 

Remember the time when Sakura jumped in to save Naruto? In comparison to Hinata’s attempt, Sakura’s was far more altruistic and heroic, for she didn’t put her feelings for Naruto above his safety. 

Though if we were to judge a heroine by how many times she helped Naruto, then we can all agree that the true heroine of the story is Sasuke, lol.

Important Distinction about NaruSaku

An important thing I think we NaruSaku fans need to remember is that we have our own moments, our own development, and our own ‘origin’ story.

Anime and fillers are currently rewriting the history of Naruto to make certain pairings fit. You’ll see fans using headcanons as facts. The anime studio copy moments from other ships to their own ships because they seem to lack their own ideas or they want to legitimize ships that were previously illegitimate.

I just wanted to remind you all that NaruSaku doesn’t need that. In fact, there are two very important things that we don’t need. We don’t need:

= Sakura to be Naruto’s first bond

We all know that Naruto’s first bond was Sasuke. Then Iruka. Then Sakura and Kakashi. Then Jiraiya. And the list goes on and on with some characters in-between. The story of NaruSaku is not about Sakura being the first one there for Naruto. Sakura was just one of the first people who saved Naruto from his loneliness.

The one thing we can point to Sakura being first in is believing Naruto could achieve his ‘stupid/impossible dream’. This is a point repeated later in the manga and is often overlooked (even though the ending does a complete 180 and Sakura doesn’t seem to care or help Naruto achieve his dream)

= Naruto and Sakura to be destined soul mates

NaruSaku is not about Naruto and Sakura automatically having a connection just like that and understanding each other from the get go. That is not them, we do not need to steal that from other ships. That is not what the manga told us.

Naruto and Sakura did not truly understand one another at first. Naruto was an annoying pest who at times, didn’t know when to calm down or back off. Sakura was very inconsiderate of other peoples life circumstances and said offensive things without even realizing it.

Naruto grew up and obviously learned to respect Sakura’s feelings even if she liked another guy (though he still asked her out on dates, some of which she agreed to)

Sakura grew up to have a better understanding of Naruto and his life struggles. She learned the pain Naruto had to deal with, and the burden he carried.

We must not forget the strongest pillar of NaruSaku is their growth and how they grew up to be better people because of each other.

Conclusion

Always remember what NaruSaku is about and how it stood all on its own. It ran deep within the manga. Other pairings within the series were based off of it. And lastly, our reasons for shipping it were valid without the need to copy other ships or rewrite history.
