what I love about robert’s rebellion as an event is that it’s so absurdly lyrical and poetic… there’s the trident, lyanna in her tower of joy and the mad king cackling on his evil throne, whispering to his mages about wildfire. these are all events that took place a decade and a half before the start of our story and everyone remembers them but the poetry has swallowed the fact. it’s all blurred in pretty prose. robert and rhaegar aren’t real people. they can’t be. they are literary foils even for the characters! which is why ned waxing lyrics about robert’s youthful body actually sort of makes sense. it goes with jaime’s last wistful memory of rhaegar and barristan’s melancholy for the “last dragon”. robert and rhaegar are Characters even in the eyes of those who actually knew them. it’s so cool

tears of the kingdom status update: took a few hours to get out of the tutorial area bc i took the, uh, scenic route through it and once i was down on the ground i talked to purah, immediately set about exploring the surrounding area, and apparently managed to completely miss the paraglider bc i immediately ditched the main quest to go exploring
