I have only ever seen an issue with term itself? Which is why I use 'cisswap' when I'm changing the canon and apparent biological gender of a character and having them as comfortable with their genetic/assigned sex. I like exploring how the characters would develop and what different issues they would face if they were another biological sex, as well as what would happen if they were trans (shifting to or from their canon sex). It's interesting to explore!

okay,, let me try to rephrase what im saying here just a little i guess. it's okay to headcanon someone as trans, and expand on that as if they are a transgender person. but whatever you call it,, genderbending isn't the same as having a trans character. genderbending is giving a character traits that they "have to" have to be another gender, implying that you need to be born with a penis & a flat chest to be a male or a vagina & breasts to be a female.

i see why people want to do this, & it's not even my personal issue since i'm not trans myself. but there's a difference between "this character was born female, even though they're male in source - they're trans!" or "this character is male, but what if they transitioned?" and "this character is going to be a cis girl now, so lets give her an hourglass body & tits"

I actually don't mind gender bending and think it's cool to mess around with

it assumes that there are only two genders (cisfemale & cismale), that no character is trans unless outright canonly stated, & that someone has to have certain characteristics to be a gender (or "the opposite gender")
