Seattle for a Day
Seattle for a Day
Rick woke up on Wednesday morning and came into my office and said, “We’re going to Seattle for the day, we’re going to have lunch and head up top the Space Needle!” This is a big deal for me because for 11 years I’ve been trying to convince him that he should view the city from the Needle. But his antipathy for tall buildings has dissuaded him for all those many years of me asking. Needless to…

Seeing Differently
This evening I walked over to Tuki as he stared at me to get my attention with the cutest face, saying “hey my water bowl is empty” So as I walked over to fill it, the evening light was coming through windows affected by rain clouds blown by the wind and I noticed that there was this nice evening light defining the textures of his hair and the color variations of Yorkie’s… In this moment, I…

Wake Up When Its Over
Wake Up When Its Over
I am a lover of music and it doesnt matter if its old, new country, rock…sometimes pop and maybe an occasional hip hop but it calms me and brings me to a place of peace. This song/video (“Wake Up When It’s Over” Lyric Video – Michael Logen & Maren Morris) has been stuck on repeat for today…enjoy! Lyrics: It wasn’t one big blow that brought our love down It was the hairline cracks that took it to…

Heybrook Lookout Hike
Rick and I headed up for a short hike this morning to catch the sunrise over the Mt. Index/Mt Persis range on Heybrook Lookout trail off HWY 2. It was a little foggy as we reached the trail head and a little ways up the trail but a few gusts came in a made our way clear. A steady climb but relatively short one up to the fire lookout tower. In total we hiked 2.6 miles out and back with a 859 feet…

Mt. Springs Lodge
Rick and I recently celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary. For this occasion we headed out in the early am to spend a day snowmobiling at the quaint Mountain Springs Lodge in Plain, WA. We really lucked out because the weather prior and forecast weather was gloom and doom. But for our special day it was beautiful sunrises and clear blue skies! Here are a few shots through the windshield on our…

Portrait session for my neighbor. Photographs were a surprise birthday present so I had to wait to share this session from October 2015. This was a fun autumn session in October and I was fortunate to have good light, a great model and a perfect horse. Here is a slideshow compilation… https://vimeo.com/151441922 and here are some stills from the session.

Edward J. Curtis My first introduction of Edward J. Curtis was seeing the photography entitled, 'An Oasis in the Badlands' and I remember thinking I wanted to invent a time machine to venture back so I could learn to create photographs like his. Here is a documentary on his work of the North American Indians in the early 20th century.
Daily Inspirations: Through the Lens I was immersed in Adorama's Through the Lens series this past weekend. The second season is about to start so if you have never watched any of the first season's episodes, I hope you can find some inspiration from these talented photographers.
Winter Solstice
It’s been sometime since I picked up the camera to make a photograph. This morning was the first time in several weeks the sun made an appearance and what a way to shine…especially with all the new snow atop the mountains.
