A really short and sweet fic that’s kind of the moments just before bkdk start dating. The boys aren’t quite seeing eye-to-eye, Baku isn’t communicating exactly what he’s feeling, but that’s what makes it feel really in character. They’re not great at this, but they’re just starting to try.

(I don’t always read tags…) Lovely characterization, especially for Deku. It’s tender and domestic meets pro hero life. Love that intersection, as it’s basically all I want for bkdk. Pro hero canonverse action with soft domesticity. Perfect.

Bkdk have their horrible communication skills but natural chemistry and deep need for each other and it was a great take on a familiar story.

If you wanna cry on the train like I did, read this one. I’ll go ahead and tell you, since it’s clear from early on—Deku is dead and Baku isn’t handling it well. The story is his long journey to reaching some level of closure with some help from his friends. Unhappy ending isn’t usually my fave genre, but idk, this one ends nicely, even if the sad doesn’t fully go away.

Bakugou having done some level of emotional work on himself—but still being constipated to heck and gone—while Deku just avoids avoids avoids feels so correct to me. I liked living in that take with a fic recent enough that it feels really grounded in what the directly post-war aftermath would have felt like.

I wish I’d been highlighting as I read. Even if I imagine these as OCs, it’s worth the read because of the writing quality. The brief, cryptic author’s notes add to it. If you’re okay with a pretty heavy dose of angst, please give it a go. (I linked the series, as there are 2 very short sequels)
I have this thing on the internet where I don't like having a pseudonym. I don't like having multiple accounts. I like being me, just me, under the narrowest umbrella possible. It's funny, because I went to school for acting, but I don't like maintaining personas. In light of that, I've been trying to delete accounts that I made in an effort of fracturing my online identity. That's why I've changed my name here to anjumstar, the email account I made in 2006 in order to play neopets. That's why I removed my pseud on ao3. It's why I'm trying to pick away all the gems from my old tumblr account, reblog them or save them otherwise, and I'm gonna nuke it. I can't wait to nuke it.
To that end, I've just nuked my extra ao3 account, and I switched all the fics from it to my anjumstar account but put them in an anonymous collection. That means my stats are officially all combined and up-to-date, anddddd 🥁🥁🥁
One million words have come and gone on ao3! Maybe five chapters ago in the old fic I'm working on finishing uploading please don't read it.
Since I try not to upload fics until I finish them behind the scenes, odds are I actually hit this goal last year, haha, but this was the first opportunity to see the figure on ao3, and it's a goal I always wanted to hit. It feels very legitimizing.
I wish more of that figure went towards bkdk, and I'm working on it. I hope to have an amazing bnha fic coming down the pike. If it does work out, it'll not be fore months and months and months, I am both over my head and out of my depths.
One thing I love about being a writer is being able to go back through a piece of text and remember everything associated with it.

Over here, the bit you were working on forever, because you couldn’t get the words right. You wanted to escape, but still forged on through the mess until you reached the end.
A story might be a story in itself, but it also contains ghostly records of all the actions and emotions around it, things the reader will never see, but the writer will never forget.
AU where Kai actually isn’t a bad guy, just a serial cleaner but he has that VIBE that makes his and Deku’s meeting just as spooky as it was in canon.
He’s just trying to do his job and Eri always points out nobody likes him and sometimes he feels like he’s being punished for something horrible he did in a different life.
Probably vibes with Aizawa.
