Observation about this scene and Alastor’s body language(May or may not be accurate)(probably not)(super off topic actually)

Im sure this scene is supposed to display their comfort with one another before they fought, but something stands out to me. The WHOLE time, Alastor is clutching his staff.

I noticed that Alastor has a little quirk that you can tell how he feels around others based on how he has his staff. When he talks to Zestial he has his hands on it, when he speaks with Mimzy at the hotel it was behind him, and when he was begging Rosie to fix it he was pointing it at her like a threat. Basically, his staff contributes to his body language.

So, I think it’s strange that he’s clutching his staff so close to himself throughout their interaction despite it being such an intimate setting. He kept it front and center where he could easily access it if he needed it. Therefore assuming he believes a situation where he would need it was possible.

This kinda leads me to believe that he wasn’t naive from the beginning and still kept his bearings. Which tells me he was NEVER fully comfortable with Vox and didn’t trust him to not cause a conflict.

Although I can spin this as a playful thing for him. “You went and ruined it”, makes me think he derived joy from their relationship being the way it is. He PREFERRED having a rival that was SIMILAR to HIM. And then the second Vox wanted something Al didn’t, he lost his mind and went off on him.

Case and point : Alastor is an INDEPENDENT man with MANY BOUNDARIES and NEEDS who genuinely can’t deal with people having different opinions and feelings than him ngl

You know what? Forget the discourse. This is no longer my hill to die on.

You wanna ship canonically aspec characters because “aro/ace people can still date/have sex”? Okay, then. LET’S DO IT.  I wanna see an aromantic character with an alloromantic love interest. I wanna see that confession of undying love and the moment when the aro character says they will never feel the same way—not romantically.

I wanna see the asexual character with their allosexual partner. I wanna see that moment when the ace characters tries sex with their partner for the first time because they want to make them happy only to realize that they are 100% sex repulsed.

I wanna see the two demiromantics who don’t even know if what they feel is romantic attraction, but they adore each other and just want to make healthy snacks together and destroy each other at Mario Kart.

I wanna see the two aces who love sensual affection and are figuring out what they define as sexual or not.

I wanna see the romance + sex neutral aroace who happily and consensually does whatever makes their partner happy…but their partner still struggles with feeling undesired. 

Oh, babe. You thought shipping an aspec character would be just like shipping an allo character?

omg hazbin hotel x houseki no kuni au fic is eating my brain!! is this something people would read? i'd probably post it to my ao3 and just put previews here...

pleaseee someone talk to me about this, i wanna get my ideas out before actually proposing a fic!

i essentially am thinking of transposing charlie's idea of redemption onto phos' quest for self-improvement—instead of improving herself (since i see charlie as a red diamond, already a 'perfect' gem), she tries to improve other gems hardness, by replacing parts of them with spare gem parts.

and phos' quest of going to the moon would instead be given to vox, where instead of working with the moon, he wants to eradicate them. this would facilitate charlie's motivations to get kongo to pray, as phos did later on in the series.

the fic would probably follow major story beats of houseki no kuni with ideas of improvement and redemption from hazbin hotel integrated into it, using christian beliefs instead of the buddhist ones in the manga. and it would follow the characters of hazbin hotel.

i may try to draw some of the au versions, despite the fact i'm not really a practiced artist.

i think the fic would be called something along the lines of 'refraction' but with some more flavor added to it when i actually solidify the plot...

anyways please someone chat to me about this even if you're not into hnk, i will gladly explain it to you haha. all my friends are hazbin haters so tumblr is the only place i can talk about it.
