Interest Check: Interfaith Wep Ronpet Festivities
It's about that time of year for many Kemetics when the old falls away and the new is reborn. We pop out from all over the woodwork!
I'd like to host an online festival with folks, including shared rituals (voice and text, if folks are interested), a mini-zine, and a fundraiser for Black and Pink (a queer abolitionist non-profit).
If you're interested in helping with any of this or simply just participating, I have set up an interest check form!
Feel free to share on other socials! All levels of experience with Kemeticism and all backgrounds welcome.
An emissary of Bast reminds you that you are loved. Look up and see the beauty that surrounds you.
Woo! Wep Ronpet! Happy Birthday Ra!
(I made a little call and response ritual/hymn)
(Spoken before dawn) Here at this shrine Sopdet rises high Sopdet is visible, like the first occasion The old year is over!
(After burning a paper snake) Here at this shrine, Isfet is destroyed The snake is mutilated, the snake is burnt Be gone! Be gone! Be gone!
(After smashing a red pot, with the words of things you want gone from your life) Here at this shrine, Isfet is destroyed The red pot is smashed, the red pot is shattered Be gone! Be gone! Be gone!
(I processed my icons outside to be in the sun after the dawn. Here I offered a pot of natron and sprinkled some on the icons I had outside.) Here at this shrine, these icons are cleansed Be cleaned by natron, be cleansed by natron Be pure! Be pure! Be pure!
(I was initially planning to use an oil burner or anoint my statues with oils, but I didn’t want the paint to run. So I laid fresh flower in front of my icons and substituted the word oils for fragrance) Here at this shrine, these icons are anointed Be anointed with oil, be purified with oil Be pure! Be pure! Be pure!
(After this verse I left the statues to soak up some sun and got some breakfast) Here at this shrine, these icons have appeared Be bathed in sunlight, be renewed in sunlight Be pure! Be pure! Be pure!
(Then I brought everyone back inside and lit a little candle) Here at this shrine, the Barque rises! Ra is born, like the first occasion The new year has begun!
Happy Wep Ronpet! 🎉🎉🎉
What is Wep Ronpet?
Hey!
Wep Ronpet, is the Kemetic New Year celebration :)
It’s when Sirius (the goddess Sopdet) can be seen above the horizon again. It’s a celebration of the zep tepi (meaning the first occasion) which is a celebration of creation, and how creation is constantly renewing itself.
As a re-enactment of creation/ a recreation of creation, it is also the birthday of Ra, and all of the gods and goddess that do not have another formal birthday. It was also the start of the solar calendar, which marked a majority of religious celebrations. So most festivals can be calculated from knowing the Wep Ronpet date.
And as a festival of renewal, it’s a renewal of all the gods and Egypt. This was enacted in two ways, the ritual of the unification with the sun disk - basically bringing statues outside in order to be rejuvenated. To bring power and good luck into the next year.
And the destruction of Isfet (bad chaos) and the sn/a/ke (entropy), in the form of execrations (sympathetic magic to destroy those things). Like smashing the red pot, which was inscribed with the bad things you didn’t want to take into the next year.
Oh and I forgot it was also a time to try to placate goddesses like Sekhmet and Neith who controlled ‘the Seven Arrows’ which were daemons that caused bad luck. You give offerings to these deities to prevent bad luck in the next year.
☀️☀️☀️
And that is an extremely cliff-notes version of Wep Ronpet, but I hope that I’ve mentioned all the things that Wep Ronpet is and means. Basically it’s new year, and there are a lot of rituals surrounding it :)
I hope this was helpful and please feel free to drop me a message if this doesn’t make any sense!
physically stopping in my tracks in the middle of my midday walk because i took two hits, saw a flower and realized that gods cant love the way humans can because love is about survival
ok i was stoned what i should have said was that an immortal could never love the way a mortal can because the reason we love so viscerally is because of our own mortality. we’re born vulnerable and scared and difficult to understand and we only manage to get more so as we age. we need people to love us from the moment that we’re born or we won’t make it. we are constantly trying to understand each other, to love more and to love harder because otherwise we’ll die. everything is fake but love. love is the root of everything. take away capitalism and tear down the skyscrapers and throw away the internet and shit. you would still wake up tomorrow and need to eat, and you would still need someone to care for you when you’re sick, and we’d still need music and entertainment and CONNECTION to each other. and what would prompt anyone to do anything if not for the shared need to survive as a species and to fucking feel some form of being needed in the whole, of being accepted and protected by others. idk how you guys see it but the way we instinctively need to understand each other down to our basic survival instincts….thats pretty metal.
this is just like troy (2004) when brad pitt achilles said “The gods envy us. They envy us because we’re mortal, because any moment may be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we’re doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again.”

Hey, Kemetic Tumblr! I just stumbled across this on Kickstarter and thought I'd post about it... these dice jars could be used for offerings, storing trinkets and crystals, anything really.
How cool are they? They come in two sizes, and they have varying patterns.
I love them!!! 😤
Check out the project here.
My breath rises and falls,
I move silent as the breeze.
My tail curls behind me,
and my muscles tense.
With fervor, I pounce,
sweeping the prey into my claws.
O' Bastet,
Great Mother of Cats,
I am your's in body and name.
Dua Bastet!

Mother Protection Prayer
This is less a spell and more a prayer – one for which you will need a Spirit Vessel or Altar. If you have neither, construct a simple shrine, consisting of whatever you have that is representative of your own Goddess. If you do not follow a Goddess, I recommend using the personification of Nature (i.e. Mother Nature). Bring with you an offering – what that offering may be is heavily dependent on she whom you serve – and a candle. Light the candle and present the offering before/on the shrine, altar or vessel, and read thusly the following:
Oh my Mother: {Name, epithet} I have heard your call I close my eyes and wait for the echo And you come in a hurricane: I watched you in the dark, My Mother, My Protector The likes of which I’ve never seen, No one has matched the spark Oh my Mother: {Name, epithet} Under the spell of a circle, I let my face show Oh my heart is like an eagle, I love to fall from the sky It’s so beautiful, I see right through the water’s edge And I love your hands, I let them lead me into the cage And so I resign to your Desire – Kept safe by the burning Fire – Of your Power – Give unto me your Strength, Mother, for None might keep me down; I am done, I am furious Fear the lioness paint her face black and golden None can keep me down; I am done, I am furious For I am the Lion(ess) – prey to none;
You may let the candle burn and leave the offering; or you may extinguish the candle, and leave it, along with the offering at a sacred place of your own Goddess. I’m naturally inclined to the latter, but the choice is very much your own.

The Nisut (AUS) of the House of Netjer shared a prayer to Sekhmet that She wrote based on translations of ancient texts, and I'd like to share that here. (We have Her permission to do so.)
To reiterate: this is not something I personally wrote.
Prayer to Sekhmet against COVID-19
Rev. Dr. Tamara L. Siuda, March 20, 2020
O Sekhmet, Eye of Ra,
Powerful Flame,
Protectress of those whom She created,
O Sekhmet Who lights up the land with Her flame,
Who gives life to everyone:
Come, Sekhmet! Free us!
Save us from the misfortunes of this time.
May they never have power over us, forever.
Powerful One of Fire,
Who makes the virus tremble with fear of Her,
Come to us! Stop all calamity!
May our beginning be life, our middle be health, and our end be strength.
May there be cooperation between us.
May there be protection against all our enemies living or dead.
Appease in our favor the Great Nine;
Appease in our favor the Lesser Nine;
Appease in our favor all the blessed dead,
as Ra is agreeable to His following,
in this time of our need.
O Pure Mother,
grant that all of the peoples of our world,
the generations we know and generations still to come,
be pure of all evil contamination,
of all bad winds,
and all bad journeys for this time.
say it with me witches

Kemetic Names: Shameless co-promotion
It can’t be denied that kemetic names are cool. It’s a very personal way to connect with the religion. But it can be very difficult to develop one if you don’t have any knowledge of the ancient Egyptian language. Even if you have an idea in English, it really isn’t a matter of just grabbing a Middle Egyptian dictionary. Every word has its own layers of nuance and then there’s grammar.
But starsandepithets now has a service to help with that. One of the tiers includes a hieroglyphic transcription and will also give you $5 off a custom cartouche from me so that you can wear your name too! :)
**Mabon - Things To Do**
Here are some ideas for Mabon that you might like to try out :)
Gratitude Jar - many refer to Mabon as the Witches’ Thanksgiving and it is the perfect time to really think about and appreciate all the things in your life you should be grateful for. Practising gratitude is a hugely positive habit, and a great way to get into it is to start your very own ‘Gratitude Jar’. Keep it somewhere nearby and every night try to write on a piece of paper (or parchment or dried leaves, whatever, get creative!) at least one thing you are grateful for. When things get tough it can be very comforting to look through your wee pieces of paper and be reminded of positive things :)
Nature Walk - every sabbat is an excuse for a lovely nature walk, and I almost didn’t include it , but I just love the Autumn soooo much that gathering altar materials at this time of year is my favourite :D Acorns, golden leaves, oak leaves, apples, ivy, the list is endless! Of course, always be respectful of nature and never strip completely an area you’re foraging from. I try and leave something as thanks, like tobacco or some of my hair, but don’t leave anything that’ll mess with the nature!
Feast - us Pagans are forever feasting (much like nature walks) but the harvest festivals in particular are a time of appreciation for the abundance that nature has gifted us. So we feast! Include soups and stews filled with food from the harvest (try to source locally grown produce) and some mulled cider to get you started.
Fruit Picking - there are some farms that will allow you to go and pick your own fruit, which is a perfect opportunity if you’re not able to grow your own food at home. You can make it a family day out and is a perfect symbol for the harvest festival :)
Magicks - The Autumn Equinox is when the day and night are exactly equal, so this sabbat is all about balance. Practice magick that promotes this is in your life. Protective magicks are good to do at this time of year, as we prepare for the darker days of Winter.
I tried out my Mabon Apple Tart recipe today and I’m thinking that if it tastes as good as it looks it will be a 5 Star hit!!! I’ll post a recipe etc once I get a chance!
[to any deity in particular]: Hi. I’ve brought shitty alcohol, two electric candles, a chocolate bar, my many issues, and an undying love for you. Can you help me un-fuck myself?
[deity]: sighs deeply
