may we ask if you have source texts or similar bodies of work you might recommend to the class for anybody wanting to know more about the nature of the enmity between A/p/e/p and the kemetic pantheon and by extension creation?
We would also like to ask if you would tell us why you sever its name in such fashion.
while I cant point you to a particular text, simply because I cant remember any, the Egyptian Gods' (Netjeru) main duty as gods, is to create and maintain Ma'at, the ideal form of Justice, Truth, and Order, and to defy and destroy Isfet, which are Injustice, Chaos, and Violence, and all that opposes Ma'at.
Ma'at is personafied by the Goddess Ma'at.
Isfet is personafied by A/p/e/p, usually depicted as a snake, that seeks to destroy everything that is Ma'at.
People outside kemetism likes to say A/p/e/p is a force of nature like Entropy, but the myth that says it originates from the umbilical cord of Ra is a newer addition to the myth. Because Isfet is thought to come from human's free will, it also makes sense (in my opinion) that A/p/e/p is created from the evil thoughts and actions of humans.
No Egyptian Deity can be Evil, that is to say none of the Netjeru can exists as an agent of Isfet, because the Netjeru exists and subsist through and because of Ma'at. The god Set (Sutekh) have been villainized due to Ancient Egyptian temple/religious politics but even then he still is, and even until now, and for eternity without end, The Slayer of A/p/e/p, the Destroyer of Isfet.
regarding the severance of the name: in the magic of ancient Egypt, heka, Names have great Power, and to desecrate a name weakens the being of said name. As Kemetics, we must sever the name whenever we see/write/say/think about it. The weaker A/p/e/p is, the weaker Isfet is, and the stronger Ma'at is, considering the state of the world, we need as much help as we could in defeating Injustice, Violence, and Chaos.
I think it's important to understand the desire to worship destructive and "evil" beings before we make judgements informed by the stagnancy of a(n unfortunately) dead religion whose followers seem only to focus on adhering to tradition rather than creating new philosophies engaging with the kemetic gods unbound by the inertia of historicity.
Now, I do not venerate the specific manifestation of human cruelty, evil, and so and so, but the world has revealed various destructive elements that we cannot divorce from the universe, aspects continuously engaging and participating with existence; therefore, by proxy, my reverence for all that is contains it. These forces are not contained in simple moral categories but are a part of more intricate system of cause and effect. A/p/e/p as evil personified can be symbolically demonised in order to engage with ritual banishing and wealth bringing, but understanding that it is contained still as a participating agent of the universe and should be respected as such that is also a political tool (a convenient character one could fault all problems on) should not be lost upon us. A/p/e/p as a figure emerges from the same impulse that caused abrahamic religions to create satan, the same imagery informed by it even. This is a figure that is created as a monster from its very conception, seen as the source of all evil, as if to say that the gods themselves are completely "pure" untouched by damage and harm and contamination. When something is at such an unfortunate state it isn't strange to see some empathising or feeling empowered by the imagery.
In the Mahavidya, we have Goddesses that signify pain, decay, sickness, residue and impurity, who are also the provider of boons and power, music, art. It is understood that destroys creates, what hurts heal, what feeds starve. It is understood that there is no true face of evil beyond that which also is the progenitor of good in the first place. Just like how dharmic philosophies and traditions had grown and change throughout time to reveal these wisdoms perhaps it's time we resurrect the living quality of a religion, a system which is dynamic and addresses the needs or revelations of the times, onto kemeticism.
That's a very large series of assumptions you got there.
Just because Kemetics don't publicly discuss new philosophies they create within their personal interpretation of their religion doesn't mean they don't exist. At a certain level of religious building it's common to stop discussing one's personal gnosis in a public setting (reasons vary and are frankly no one's business if the person in question doesn't wish to discuss them). Just because you don't personally see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Destructive elements outside of a/pep exist within the ancient Egyptian religion. It's part and parcel of the fundamental basis of our religion, ma'at. Those destructive forces are not divorced from the religion nor are Kemetics typically divorcing those concepts from our religion.
The very concept of a/pep is antithetical to life. Full stop. It isn't about cruelty or chaos or evil or anything either gods or man-made. It is the unmaking of all creation. There is no reverence to have for any being or personification in the unmaking of all existence.
Your soliloquy makes it very clear that you have a very cursory understanding of all of this. We spend extensive time researching our religion. We know what is and is not acceptable. We don't have some person on high standing in the way and dictating what we believe or not. We have taken the time and effort to understand a dead religion from an historical perspective and brought it to today. You've divorced the very central tenants of the faith from itself in order to defend people who have not done the time and research and exploration over the people who actually live the faith.
Just as I would not presume to tell you about your faith, I, and other kemetics, would appreciate the same courtesy.
I dreamt briefly of Hathor last night. She was the Egyptian goddess of love, joy, music, and motherhood. She was also a protector of the dead, guiding them safely into the afterlife.
