Disney didn’t kill the EU.
The EU hasn’t died unless you and everyone else let it die.
Lucasfilm made the decision to create new stories.
Get to know these facts.
I spent a good minute staring at this trying to work out how Disney could possibly kill the European Union.
disney fucking caused brexit
THIS 👏 IS 👏 HOW 👏 YOU 👏 OPEN👏 SHOW
Trump supports the EU referendum result
So if you guys didn’t know it was a bad fucking decision, then now you know.
Trump endorses you.
when donald trump agrees with your decision, you know you fucked up
What has the eu actually done for us though?
Well first and foremost, the EU have protected us with workers rights. It is due to the EU that we have: paid holidays, paid sick leave, maternity leave, parental leave, strict laws against discrimination in the workplace, lax working hours and time off, equal pay.
Thanks to the EU, approximately 15,000 students study abroad due to the Erasmus scheme. As well as that, the UK is the second largest beneficiary of EU research funds which constitutes as a vital source of income for universities and companies.
It’s cheaper and easier for us to travel within Europe. Trade rules means we can bring back produce or alcohol from these countries without paying import duties. The EU also cut the cost of calls, text, and data while travelling abroad in the EU.
The EU accounts for half of all global aid. Last year alone it donated €53.1 billion. Aid constitutes as around 9% of the EU budget.
The EU food and drinking water standards means that we have safer food and tap water. Due to the EU we have clear food labelling standards, which includes allergies being stated and we also have the cleanest and healthier rivers due to the EU prohibiting the dumping of fertiliser and slurry into rivers.
Approximately 80% of UK animal welfare laws originate from the EU. The EU sets standards on how animals are transported, slaughtered, and also on their conditions. The EU has made labelling the method of production (such as “eggs from caged hens”) compulsory. In 2012 the EU banned conventional cages for laying hens and banned sow stalls for pigs which greatly improved their standard of life. The EU also banned animal testing for cosmetic purposes in 2009.
The EU funded the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland and continues to provide financial support for the peace process and has done since 1989. If it weren’t for the EU, we would still be in the troubles.
as much as its fun to laugh at these brexit memes i don’t want anyone to forget how serious this actually is. i have one of my housemates crying in my room bc her career relied on the uk being a part of the eu (she wanted to go into foreign diplomacy). my mum is freaking out because the uk basically just put xenophobia and racism ahead of its own interests and she doesn’t know what that means for her immigrant self, or her british born foreign children. my brother-in-law who works for a french company is terrified that his job won’t be there tomorrow. i’m living in the netherlands rn and the pound has plummeted so much that the money i budgeted at the start of this month is no longer enough for me to make rent and eat. this is just the beginning and this is only how brexit is effecting one singular person (me). i can’t even imagine the wider damage this is gonna cause.
