Golf is very mental. Once you have the skills down and youâre able to consistently hit a shot to the target maybe seven or eight times out of 10, then it becomes very much a mental game for these golfers and just a little bit of doubt, a little bit of indecision, can derail you on an important shot like that.

You have to conquer yourself, your emotions. You have to win the mental battle with yourself.

As a teacher, I get to see and hear a lot of horror stories, maybe not the kind that you are used to. Kids being abused by teachers or parents, students who get hooked on hard drugs and lose scholarships, even teenagers getting raped in the classroom. Bad things happen to good kids. It breaks my heart. All in all, itâs all pretty horrific, some of the things they warn you about in school when youâre getting your teaching credential.

Trigger Warning: sexual violence, child death
@sixpenceee here but Iâm posting this from my personal blog, @sixpencee(with 2 Eâs). I wanted to repost some of favorite content from sixpenceee onto my personal blog!
Itâs funny what you remember as a kid. I donât remember my 5th birthday or my first day of school. But I remember very clearly the day my dog died. Itâs been 12 years now, and itâs still the most vivid memory of my childhood.

The Man Who Lived Upstairs

When the news came on the television, I immediately dropped my spoon and stopped eating.
âAn attempted kidnapper has been shot dead in Wayne County,â the newsreader intoned. âPolice say a local history professor lured one of his students into his van by telling her his new puppy had stopped breathing.â

My neighbourhood has always been what youâd describe as âfucking clicheâdâ. White picket fences, Fathers happily barbequeing, the works.Â
Not to say that this wasnât nice, it was certainly a lovely neighbourhood, and the peace was well worth the humdrum day to day itâd provide.
Of course, it never lasts, otherwise I wouldnât be here telling you all this.

âYouâre joshing me,â Ron declared, forcing a smile through gritted teeth.
The genealogist shrugged, intertwining his fingers on the desk, not daring to meet Ronâs gaze. âThe DNA test is reliable.â

As doctors, we canât help patients who wonât help themselves. Like my patient, Maisy Leland. She has a condition known as atrial fibrillation, meaning her heart rhythms are irregular in a way that could induce blood clots. Left untreated, she could stroke out at any second. Thatâs why Iâve prescribed her with warfarin, a blood thinner that makes her less prone to clotting.

I originally posted this story in my Top 10 Creepy Stories of Summer 2015Â but I figured this story deserves itâs own post. Itâs one of the most highly rated stories on reddit and has only been around for a month. Itâs a series and although itâs long, itâs a total mindfuck. Simply, putting it on my list messed many of you up. These are the messages I received:Â
I completely agree, after I finished reading this story, I was WRECKED.Â
HUGE trigger warning for sexual abuse.Â

900,000 people are reported missing every year in the United States alone. You heard that number correctly. Â Donât believe me? Â Look it up: 900,000 people. Â A staggering 2,300 people are reported missing daily. Â Now, letâs be clear; many of these cases are solved relatively quickly and Iâm not talking about bloated corpses found floating in rivers or dismembered bodies turning up somewhere off the Jersey Turnpike.

Diary of A Fat Girl

Trigger warning: Eating Disorder
Dear Diary,
Thatâs how youâre meant to start these things right? I have never kept a journal before, nor do I want to, but the hospital said I have to as part of my âtreatment planâ. Funny.
Let me back track a little.
I have always been overweight, from being a child. I went to a strict Christian school, and luckily because of this I was never bullied because of my size- but you always notice the other kids staring.
