Yellow butterfly mimics the palm leaves, echoes the sunlight, clashes with the sky. Brasilian green, yellow, blue. Colibri comes to me to remind me what I am, the island moves around and up and down and slow to remind me why I’m really here. This road, this bird, they lead me to a mirror. Golden dog, that shifts with the sands, with eyes the same, a bronze-y sun. Arms stretched out like mine, we watch each other, you pose for me. Could we be friends, again?
