closed starter, the morning of the hunt.
feat. ruling lady minisa tully ( @belcvd )
the lion was only mildly shaken by the previous day's events. truly, she should've known better than to expect anything more civilised from the brutes from the north – but to see blood spilt? cersei knew that the repercussions would not simply remain some sour feelings, it will undoubtedly spiral into something altogether more dangerous.
but surely, she will not let something as simple as the death of an unrelated child ruin a good hunt.
" my lady, " with a small smile, the lion nodded her head at the lady tully, known to her from her various travels. " it has been far too long! will you be joining the hunt this morning? apparently the weather is quite mild for this far north. "
closed starter, a lion in a feast – quite a natural place for one to be
feat. princess daera targaryen ( @cursebounds )
she had been eavesdropping, of course, quite deftly tuning out the young lord petyr grafton who had been speaking – without pause – at her for the past seven minutes, and instead focusing upon the conversation happening to her left between two northern lieges. apparently a certain lady ryswell had thoroughly refused to attend the festivities due to the appearance of a certain southerner who had owed her – but suddenly the hushed tones of the two lieges stuttered to a stop, and it took the lion another short moment to realise that the lord petyr grafton had stopped his blathering as well. it was then did cersei lifted her gaze to a new figure that had just stepped into their vicinity.
she could not even pretend to quell her delight.
" your grace ! have you been looking for me? " a teasing grin fluttered across her lips as the lion stood from her seat – sweeping into a shallow curtsey before taking the arm of her old friend. cersei barely acknowledged the lord grafton as the two begin to turn to walk away. " i have not seen you since little princess rhaena's third nameday, have you been faring well in king's landing? i have heard whispers of a betrothal . . . although i'm certain such rumours for you are quite constant. "
a closed starter, a lion & a dragon in the northern chill
feat. princess daenys martell ( @oflcgends )
" i have found the mead ! " the lion's bright voice tore across the light chatter and merrymaking upon the spectator stands, a great goblet clutched in each hand. cersei had known that the north was cold, theoretically, even though she had never ventured further than white harbour – but she could hardly prepare herself fully. not after a handful of years living in dorne ! with a light shiver into her brand new furs, cersei gave her mistress a shallow curtsey before handing her one of the goblets, emerald gaze flickering expectantly at the competition upon the field before them. " has anything interesting happened, your grace? or have they already crowned a winner? i cannot quite tell. "
the king welcomes cersei of house lannister of casterly rock ! all of court has heard that they are enchanting and bright , but whispers claim that they are also cruel and calculating when no one is looking … how much of that is true, we will soon find out. asking around, we are told that they remind people of decadence whilst leaving a trail of destruction , secret smiles amid courtly intrigue , silken golden hair and haunting eyes , a lion; waiting to pounce upon her prey ─ that should give the bards something to sing about ! unbeknown by most, to climb to monstrous heights is the real reason why they answered the call of the king, but with so many rumors flying around, who is to say what the truth is ?
my daughter, my last one. she's my sin. she is what i smeared on the world.

cersei dances to the tune of intrigue. perfectly, and with grace dripping from every precise movement. the legacy of house lannister had always been certain, for it is quite the feat to be at the very forefront of public life whilst still operating in the shadows. her family had forged influence through the fire of sheer ambition and cunning, for it was gold that had made kings bow and show their begrudging deference, and the lions will continue to prance forwards with fearless aggression.
her grandmother had been the formidable lioness of myth and legend, at least in cersei’s mind. she begrudges the closeness between her elder siblings and the late matriarch of house lannister. she knew she was too young, too unimportant, too fragile to be brought as a lion heir worthy of her grandmother’s tutelage, not when the older lions of casterly rock stared firmly into the eye of war – poised for greatness. the young cub only stared out from her rooms within the golden towers, unafraid of potential defeat – for her mind had deemed it simply impossible ! – but fretting over her own rise after the dust has settled.
the tutelage of a lion of the rock had been perfect from time immemorial. power and gold. gold and power. it matters not whether a child is to inherit the privilege and burden of becoming warden of the west, they must make their way in the world with purpose and forceful grace. cersei walked up and down the innumerable stairs of her home with a veritable legion of trusted scholars, who taught her history and the movement of power; how houses rise and fall in the aftermath of war, and one must run towards every opportunity in order to seize it. but as things quietened and the land rebuilds, little cersei remained within the stronghold of her home, beset with music and dancing lessons to make her much more like a lady, yet nowhere to prove it ! her hunger continues as she sat by her mother's feet, holding in tears of frustration as she yearned for something more, more.
the ruling lady lannister had never been a soft woman. handpicked by her husband’s mother, she possessed a brilliant mind that knew when patience was necessary and when it was time to ride into battle. she tried her best with cersei, attempting to control her young daughter’s envy with lessons upon lessons that will occupy her mind. “you are safe in the rock, my dove, you are our most precious ! ” she would murmur into cersei’s golden hair, arms tightly wrapped around her shoulders. the older she became, the more she wanted her mother to cease lying to her. she stays in casterly rock because she serves no purpose, a child to be protected, not a weapon to be harnessed.
it became quite apparent that cersei was both lion and serpent, poisonous and vicious, strong and angry. she enjoys baring her teeth, and began to constantly test the fences that were so clearly marked for her. she ran rampant across the the cobbled streets of lannisport, eerily adept at whittling out stories from visiting merchants and friendly barkeeps. her mother called her precious again – ignoring the way her hair smells like salt and her cheeks bright with exertion – while her father took to his cups as he always did; cersei could only smile ever wider. it was almost impossible to keep her contained.
finally, blessedly, cersei was allowed to slip into the retinue of her elder siblings when they venture out from the rock to partake in politicking. a shadow with golden hair, who laughed and danced to the whispers of courts throughout westeros. she listens more than she speaks, and her emerald gaze glinting with something strange and unseen — the little lion sits besides her eldest sibling as they sat around the tables of all manner of lieges, hiding in plain sight as the youngest, and outwardly least threatening of all the young lions. they do not know that her tongue is sharper than most whence in private, and her mind utterly unceasing. there is little that escapes her notice.
she was twenty & six then, and might be considered far too old for some to be unmarried, but cersei lannister isn’t just anyone, her mother murmured. she is the fairest flower of the west that will always remain out of reach, no matter how much she wished herself not to be quite so. although she wanted to be above the ownership of men and to be free from the thought of others dictating her life, she knew that it was the only chance she could have to gain a position of her own. of course, she could not believe of another name better than lannister, so why should she trade such a treasure with anything less? but the rest of westeros, unfortunately, did not believe for it to be so. it was time to sell the treasure of her family name for the good of valyrian blood — all through the machinations of her family's influence. cersei would’ve done anything to show her family that she was far from the little girl who wept at the thought of being forgotten.
dorne was far. greenery turned slowly into desert the further her carriage went south, and a knot in her throat began to feel overwhelming. strange, for a girl who wanted so much to leave her home had finally gotten her wish, she felt no happiness for it. her mother had sung praises of beautiful skyreach, perhaps in an attempt to appeal to her vanity, but it was when she uttered the importance of a subdued dorne that cersei truly listened. obedient when she needed to be, always greedy of something more. lord davios fowler is a warrior, first and foremost, honorable and kind — becoming his wife was not much of a punishment, and most ladies would’ve thanked all of the seven for their good fortune; if not only for her husband’s demeanour, but also for the prospect of becoming the future ruling lady of skyreach. cersei could see her husband’s importance, to his princex and no one else, for he held no further ambitions past the northern borders of dorne. it was disappointing, yet not thoroughly unexpected, so cersei bid her time in orchestrating the slow manipulation that would change her husband’s mind, and in turn, furthering her ambitions.
however, all that patience had all come to nought. through fate or design, their marriage was not meant to last, nor was it allowed to bear fruit. cersei’s womb remained obstinately empty, no matter how dutifully the couple performed their marital duties, up until her husband’s untimely demise. a hunting party had swiftly turned into a funeral procession when lord davios suffered from a great fall, and after scarcely two years of marriage, the stunned lion of the rock felt herself unmoored, once more.
currently a lady - in -waiting to princess daenys of dorne, the lion bides her time. one husband cold on the ground does not mean that her life was effectively over — in fact, it was almost as if it has just begun.
headcanons —
she knows everything about everyone ( within reason ofc ) that's why her hair is so big, it's full of secrets.
one thing she couldn’t begrudge from her former in-laws, they were very happy to include her in governance and teach her the practicalities of ruling. she listened and took everything in with rapt attention. although the fowlers don’t rule over massive swathes of lands and have dominion over innumerable vassals, they ran their lands with practical efficiency and proved their martial prowess in the training of their troops.
contrary to popular belief, she quite likes dorne — she just doesn’t like uncertainty. although, she believes that being out of sight and out of mind means she will one day be forgotten. cersei thinks that if she can't inherit a title she better fuck someone enough or make an entire family extinct to get one.
certified horse girlTM
conflicted because she’s a westerlander through and through but dornish fashion is so sexy and hot she might not let a few of her fave silhouettes go.
idk there are so many more things but i cant remember any of them
wanted connections —
if anyone brings more lannisters i will give you $2
SOUTHERN COMFORTS: friends in dorne ! not everyone hates the lannisters down south, right? …. right??? cersei was married into house fowler for the past 3 years until her husband’s death last year, so she would need some friends that wont look at her sideways
HOMETOWN MEMORIES: friends in the westerlands, or those she befriended growing up going to parties and noble events. she’s a pretty prolific letter writer so she would still be up on their face even from all the way down south.
A LINE OF CALLERS: suitors ! past or present. maybe old papa ‘accidentally’ sold out her hand in marriage to settle some gambling shit as a ‘joke’ and a smaller lord was keen enough to want to collect…
GIVE HER CRUMBS: anyone who likes gossip, please give her the tea, she's parched.
A NAME TO USE AND MOULD: a lannister by birth, the former future lady of skyreach, and now a lady-in-waiting to the sovereign princess of dorne, your muse could try to use cersei in hopes to further their own political ambitions or spread their influence. results may vary !
