An Omani Summer

My study abroad experience.

For class we went to a souk. So obviously I tried on a Abaya and Hijab.

This gym was one of my favorite parts of Oman and gave me an unforgettable experience.

Last sunrise in Oman 🇴🇲

This was our precious baby for the past month. It had the broken door handle the entire time so someone always had to open the drivers door from the inside. If it weren't for this car my amazing summer would not have been possible. RIP. The first time we went to return the car we asked the dealer if we could have it for one more day for free and he said yes. We were so hype about the we danced the whole way home. It's a little car so when we danced the whole thing moved. Everyone on the road was getting a hoot out of that. Two cars followed us home though. One had older men and the other younger. The younger asked for our numbers to take us to dinner lol. The second time we went to return the car the dealer was in a meeting so he wanted us to wait to take us home. Instead we went to a bakery, then decided to walk to the mall to get a cab, and we got a free cab ride there! On the way home we only wanted to pay 1 rial to get home but two cab drivers drove away when we said that price. Then an Omani man asked if we needed help, then offered us a ride home. We practiced our Arabic the whole way. He asked if we could talk every day so he can learn english, but I don't foresee that happening.

Tonight was dinner with the director of my program. He said get what you want so I went in! I had a juice, an appetizer, the main course, tea, and dessert.

I love this beach (Ras al Hamra). There are so many fish to see, all you have to do is bring goggles. Title of this pic is Mumkin Kissed by the Omani Sun?

The last stop on the hiking camping trip was a hot spring and big was it hot. The other girls got completely in but just my feet was incredibly painful for me. The spring was separated by men and women. In the women section there was locals washing laundry in the spring too.

The second wadi was Wadi Hokane. It was extremely warm and had white algae. Half of it you could only swim. So beautiful

The first wadi we hiked: snake gorge. It was narrow with towering walls. Lots of smooth rocks that we could slide down. Took about three hours.

This weekend is the last in Oman. I went on a camping/hiking trip with a friend we made from the gym. The night was pretty rough because the mosquitoes were relentless, maybe only two hours of sleep. But when we woke up the view was absolutely worth it.

Did it in one try... Only 5 more days of classes! The two months have flown by!

Marvelous trip today to Loqimat and Mini Donuts Oman. The Loqimat is a like a donut hole with cheese in the center and it had condensed milk drizzled on the top. And the donuts were Nutella donuts. Nutella is all the rage here! Both so delicious!

July 31 Today was an all ladies class at the gym. This gives the women an opportunity to workout without an abaya or headscarf.
