I have fully decided to just make shit up. Oh the spell Cure wounds didn't exist or did and worked way differently to how it does now? ok, not my problem. I'm making a warlock you cannot stop me!
the fact warlocks weren't a thing in base game til 4th edition was the thing that saddened me the most in all my research for ST fics. Truly i dont think it matters that we stay totally accurate to AD&D rules (The Duffers certainly didn't) if we know how 5e+ works. i'm not spending another 6 months learning how that shit worked for probably only 5 lines of story.
exactly! I simply do not care. I will make Warlocks and use 5th edition spells, I will call them Rouges instead of Thieves, I will use 5th edition everything and I will be happy god damn it.

I've been kind of busy so I haven't updated this in a long time, I apologize. Life is weird like that apparently.
Eddie is pretty sure this is the worst summer in Hawkins history. There's a heatwave worse than ever, and this town has nothing for him to cool down.
One an evening walk he runs into a stranger. Or the stranger runs into him, and through a terrifying silence the two somehow bond over patching up each others injuries. Eddie's new friend is refusing to show his face or even speak, but that won't stop Eddie from developing a crush on him.
Or:
Steve accidentally becomes friends with the town freak, but never tells Eddie who he is in fear of never talking to him again. How will their friendship survive if he reveals that he isn't one of the freaks?
Alrighttt, I wrote the first chapter/prolouge for my Stobin platonic soulmate au!!
And y'know, for someone that isn't religious, I sure injected a lot of Religion into this
It will be kind of heavy, I go into a lot of theoretical discussions in the draft I made.
Robin wants to find her soulmate, she feels lonely in a world that isn't for people like her. She wants to find her person, to have someone who gets her. Someone who knows what she is, but who would always be on her side. The words on her skin make her think that whoever it is, they need her just as much as she needs them.
Steve had found out he had a soulmate later than everyone else he knew. His soulmate didn't lie very often, and the longer the time between the words appearing on his skin, the worse he felt about how many his soulmate would have from him. Still, anytime he felt like things didn't make any sense, he stared at the lies scattered on his skin to feel less alone.
Eddie had been excited to find his soulmate, he fantasized about meeting them and immediately clicking. That they would be close enough to know what each other are thinking without any words. But his dreams shattered and he doesn't have a soulmate. He is alone now and he will die alone. And Maybe he still cries about this fact sometimes.
writing another chapter for stranger and I need to finally introduce the stranger with a name, because writing that is irritating lmao
So like I do really think it's cute to refer to Steve as Evie, but it doesn't work in this story, but fret not it's what he goes by in my streamer au (that I haven't started writing yet aaaaaaaaa)
This chapter is basically a montage of them becoming friends, and I struggle to write scene transitions like that tbh. It's going though, just not well lmao
I just want to expand on the soulmate au because I feel like it
It's steddie, but they aren't soulmates. Stobin are.
Essentially, this story was born from me thinking 'what if they actually were platonic soulmates for real though?'
I've been playing around with a few different soulmate au's and I decided to go with the one where lies show up on your soulmate's skin. (This might change in the future though so don't hold me to it?)
I wanted to do an Au where you don't just get a name or something obvious that tells you who it is, I wanted them to have to figure it out. I also wanted Robin to be under the impression that her soulmate is someone like Eddie because Steve lies about things that she wouldn't think someone like Steve lies about.
'I'm sorry officer, it won't happen again' 'It's fine I just fell' 'My parents are fine' 'yes sir, I am safe'
I wanna write a scene where Robin goes up to Eddie and asks if he knows who her soulmate could be. She assumes that her soulmate is someone in his friend group. She doesn't think it's Eddie, but hopes it's a girl he knows.
Anyway, Eddie doesn't have a soulmate. He has no one and it's part of the reason he started acting out. When people find out who have no soulmate they stop treating you like a normal person and he became standoffish to compensate. That and he is also just weird, but the soulmate thing was basically the first nail in the coffin of him fitting in.
Anyway I already have a scene written where Steve philosophizes about having a soulmate and what that even means to Tommy. This also is one of those 'Steve Harrington is smart' stories. Soulmates are a topic he is heavily invested in and he has done a shit ton of thinking and research about it.
Like I said I'm currently writing Stranger so idk when I'll start working on this story, but I really want to. Lemme know if anyone would be intrested in that actually
to the person that said I should write this, I actually did start wow. But I kinda confused myself so now I have to rewrite the entire thing because it didn't really make any sense lmao

I'm still hung up on the idea that Steve, Tommy and Carol were actually good friends to each other. Just the idea that they were probably shit people but they were good friends. Is this kind of based on the screenshots of Steve giving both of them food in s1? Kind of? I just want to give him actual friends. Also because it makes the entire thing more complicated than 'Steve leaves his fake friends behind to be nice'. instead it becomes 'Steve chooses to leave his old best friends behind because they've become bad people refusing to change and he still misses them'. The fact that he doesn't really fit into the friend group after that is even sadder. Here are the people you left your old friends behind for, they don't really like you. (The people his age anyway, because he basically started the whole character ark because of Nancy. He gets along with the kids but that's not exactly the same as friends your age. At least not for a few years probably.)
Anyway, here's a wip for a scene about that that I wrote without that much context.
“Sometimes I still miss them…” They all looked at Steve. He missed Tommy and Carol? Why? He chuckled a bit at all their faces. “I know, I know…” He scratched his chin. “…They were bad people who immediately went behind my back at the first opportunity.” But if he did, why was he still thinking about them? Steve just sighed.
Of course he knew what they were thinking. “We were actually best friends. Like the inseparable kind.” And that much was obvious, the two always followed Steve around like lost little ducklings wherever he went. “We… used to be…” Steve stared at the concrete with furrowed brows. “Used to be close?” Nancy offered, but Steve just shook his head. “Kind.” Is what he settled on.
And Eddie was slightly confused. “We were good people at one point… Were each others ride or die. Had each others back…” So what changed? Steve tilted his head a bit. “We met when they both tried to help me at the same time. I fell off a swing and fucked up my leg, cried like a baby, wasn't even broken.” He chucked while talking. The idea was adorable; tiny Steve wailing over a small bruise? “Both came over to help, Tommy always had bandaids on him at all times back then. He put them on my leg and made Carol put some on my arm. Said the quicker they're on, the better they heal.” Now he actually laughed. It was such a pleasant sound to Eddie's ears. “God, he was convinced that bandaids just heal you? As if they're magic?” Now everyone else laughed too. Kids believe the weirdest things. Steve kept laughing before he kept going, a smile spreading on his face. “We backed each other up with literally everything. I was pretty shit at reading for a while and they would help me study by reading out loud or by just trying to teach me themselves. Didn't judge me or anything. I had to force Tommy to do math, always reexplain everything like ten times. Carol was smarter than us both. She basically taught me how to talk to people.” Steve brushed through his hair and finally looked up. “That's the part that I missed…” The smile faltered and turned sad. “I just miss my friends…” And how couldn't he.
"What happened?” He trailed off when he realized what he had said. Eddie and his big mouth. Steve shifted a bit with a hum on his lips. “Life…” It was vague and Eddie felt bad for pushing. “Sorry… I didn't- you don't have to talk about it, obviously…” Robin leaned on Steve's side a bit. She hit his arm lightly. “I know… I mean like. I just…” He was clearly mulling something over. “It's just a lot of smaller things over the years. And then the bad shit happened and it was so much worse. Kinda didn't know what else but to be assholes after that.” He was still thinking, debating seemingly. So something had happened before high school? Eddie had thought at first that the ‘the bad shit’ was the stuff in 83. “D'you guys know that Carol lives with her older brother? Her parents haven't been around since before we even met.” Eddie blinked. This was definitely news to him; wasn't she always bragging about nice gifts from her parents? “Well Tommy and my parents kinda knew each other. They met through us and basically became business partners, I think? So they needed us to stay friends anyway. Didn't like Carol at all though.” Steve frowned and shook his head.
Had their parents done something to her? Was that the bad shit? He hummed, still thinking “Mmm… We were super close and all that even with all that though; they couldn't keep us away from Carol, that's bullshit.” His face fell and he looked at the ground again. Robin tugged on his arm to get Steve to stop frowning. It didn't really work. “I- basically…” He huffed. “I don't know how to word it…” He leaned into Robin's side now as she hummed. “Need help?” But Steve shook his head. Eddie would have offered help as well, but his words were stuck in his throat. A weird silence hung over them for a while. Steve was deep in thought and Eddie started fidgeting with his rings.
“It was my fault…” He finally said. “Huh?” It was all Eddie could muster. Nancy was scrunching up her face as well, and Robin shoved Steve a bit. “No it was… I…” He looked around the cracks in the concrete. As if they could give the answers to the silent questions he was asking. “His parents threw him out…” Robin gasped. Nancy and Eddie had gone quiet while the latter had finally stilled his endless movement. “Out of the house?” Eddie questioned meekly. Steve gave the tiniest nod. “I… Fuck… me and my stupid big mouth…” He muttered quietly, they all still heard him. What could Steve have possibly said that made Tommy be kicked out? “Why did…” He rubbed over his face. “Wasn't great…” And yeah that much had been obvious. “My parents wanted nothing to do with his family anymore. He started sleeping at Carol's place. Or mine; I hid him in the basement sometimes. Her brother made him pay rent though. The fucking thirteen year old was supposed to pay him…” Agitation rose in his voice and Eddie could do nothing but stare. “I gave him the money, it was my fault anyway…”Eddie took a deep breath. Things got confusing. So, thirteen year old Steve was paying Carol's older brother to let Tommy sleep at his place? What the fuck?
This scene was based on something I came up with while I wasn't able to write it down, so it's only half remembered. I wish I had been able to get the whole thing but I can't remember the details anymore sadly.
The point is that I want Carol and Tommy to have depth as characters idk
