Another year, another skeletal wedding announcement project 🖤💀

The Hasanlu Lovers was not intended to be anything more than a representation of enduring love for my history loving friends, commemorating their special day. But as I've been working on the piece, I've refreshed myself on the history of the iconic near 3000 year old lovers. I was reminded that the skeletons are both males, found in modern day Iran. Making this project today- as my country enters a war abroad with Iran, as it continues to wage war within against its own queer people and communities- I find myself far more thoughtful as stitch than I typically am. I'm far more conscious of the subjects, and I'm finding a very distant, quiet, but deep comfort in seeing these two individuals, whose final act in life was to choose love and connect as the end approached.

To connect across such vast time and space - even if it doesn't win today, or even in my lifetime - truly embodies that love does win. Love will always endure, long long after we are gone, and our decision to love can inspire and connect people in ways we may never comprehend.

Y'all! I just came across this amazing vintage (est 1960s) knit sweater dress - I stumbled upon it in a name-your-price style thrift shop in the tiny town of Idaho City, ID, USA with the label "hand knit by Alta Williams." I know it's a long shot but if anyone knows anything about this maker, I would love to hear it!

Something I find so interesting about The X-Files is how much we don't delve into what they do off the clock.

Like do they have a favorite bar or restaurant they hit up after a particularly wtf case? What do they talk about?

I love that the writers didn't tell us, I love how the show balances giving almost too much info about convoluted overarching plots and not enough about the little moments in between that are just about them. That amount of canon that still leaves so much room for the viewer's imagination.
