Why are we here? If I died tomorrow what difference would my existence have made? The people around me would be sad for a while but people get over things, that’s just life.

All seems lost, there is no hope.

Love and Pain

You cannot have love without some pain.

Balance is essential, do not refrain.

You are my sunshine, I am your rain.

I'm eternally down because of my brain.

It makes me feel awful, truly the bane.

Sometimes all I want is to open a vein.

And even though I have many bloodstains,

A GOOD BOOK

It was a warm day. Remus was sat next to the river curled up on a blanket with a good book. Sirius and James were swimming in the river, splashing and mucking about. Peter meanwhile was munching away on some sweets nearby.

James jumped on Sirius pushing him under then letting him up again. The two best friends laughed and continued to play for a while, then peter jumped in.

"Hey Moony! Are you going to come in?" A shirtless Padfoot asked him pleadingly.

"Not today Sirius." He smiled "It's a really good book, the full moon is soon anyway."

Sirius pulled himself out of the pool and walked over to Remus, taking a seat next to him.

"Pads! You're dripping all over me!" Remus laughed

"Ahh, you'll dry Moons!"

They lay down and Sirius rested on Remus' chest. Remus put his arms around him so that he could still see the book.

"Read to me?" Sirius was so childlike when we was tired. But Remus would be damned if he didn't find it adorable.

"When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house I had only two things on my mind. Paul Newman and a ride home..." Remus read.

It was around chapter 15 that James noticed the lack of a Padfoot and Moony and stopped playing, he was watching intently trying to decide the situation as if it were a puzzle.

"Pete, look at this." He motioned for the boy to look over.

"Aww. That's cute!" He cheered. James rolled his eyes and went back to watching his two best friends reading a book.

Sirius soon closed his eyes and fell asleep. Remus smiled then ran a hand through his dark, luscious locks and continued.

"Remus," James clambered out of the water. "How long have you two..." he trailed off but Remus knew what he was asking.

"We're not. We will be eventually, but we're not right now." He softly smiled at the sleeping boy and closed his eyes himself, putting the book aside. Soon they were both sound asleep and the other two were seated beside them telling jokes and stories.

The marauders didn't get back to the castle until dinner time but it was a perfect day.

AMORTENTIA PART 2

Sirius tossed and turned, his mind was racing and he was trying to remember where he had smelled in the amortentia. He let out a long sigh and turned on his side.

"Sirius?" Came a whisper. It was so soft he must have imagined it.

"Sirius." He heard it again and turned around once more.

"Are you alright?" Remus quizzed tiredness lacing his voice.

"I'm alright Remus you can go back to sleep." Remus was silent for a moment before he threw the covers back and stepped onto the cold floorboards, walking to the other boys bunk quietly.

Remus sat into the edge of the bed and Sirius sat up.

"Are you sure you're alright? You seem frustrated."

Sirius shook his head slightly.

"I'm fine Moony. Just trying to remember where I smelled that scent from the amortentia."

"If it's any consolation I'm having the same problem. Maybe the wet dog is the werewolf in me but surely it can't because I hate it. It's all very confusing." Remus shook his head and played with his hands, lost in thought.

"It will be okay Moony. We've survived this far without knowing haven't we?" Sirius smiled softly and placed a hand on the scarred boys shoulder. Remus jumped into Sirius' arms and buried his face in the dark haired boys neck.

"Sorry Padfoot." He murmured not pulling away.

"It's alright Moony. It's alright."

They lingered a while just holding each other tightly like a lifeboat. Remus had his arms around Sirius' shoulder and under his arm breathing into his neck. That's when he noticed. The amortentia.

Sirius' eyes were closed and he had his face in Remus's hair. He smelled the papery, chocolate smell from earlier that evening. He opened his eyes slightly and smiled.

When they finally pulled apart Sirius was the first to speak.

"Get under the covers Moons, you'll freeze!" He laughed pulling back the covers. Remus climbed in and rested himself on Sirius' chest with his arm pulled around him.

Remus opened his mouth, finding the words.

"Goodnight Siri."

"Goodnight Re."

AMORTENTIA PART 1

The Gryffindor common room was quiet. It was late and most of the boys were asleep. James, Sirius, Remus and Peter were seated in front of the fire talking softly.

"Lily gave me this." James told the boys pulling out a small pink potion.

"That's Amortentia James." Remus replied taking the small bottle to inspect. "She probably made it in potions with Slughorn."

"What's it do?" Said Peter leaning forward slightly.

"Well," explained Remus "They say amortentia smells different to every person, according to what attracts them." He handed the bottle back to James and he opened the top to smell.

"Hmm, I can smell mums homemade chocolate chip cookies." He breathed more deeply. "There's a woody smell, I think it's my broom. And lily, her very distinct shampoo and her sweet smelling perfume." The scruffy haired boy smiled and blushed lightly.

"Okay lover boy." Sirius joked "let's see what Peter smells."

The smaller ratty boy took the vile from his friend and breathed in the scent.

"Food. I can smell sweet deserts and chocolate cake..." he trailed off getting lost.

"Alright that's enough wormy." Sirius joked taking the love potion from the smaller boy.

He hesitated a moment before bringing it to his nose. He closed his eyes and focused.

"Coffee. Definitely leather and car fumes. But there's something more, it's more persistent but also lies underneath the others. Chocolate and parchment, a hint of cinnamon maybe?I've smelled this before, can't put my finger on where." Sirius breathed it in one last time and then reopened his eyes. He passed it to Remus, who took it with a smile.

He closed his eyes and breathed the scent in like the others. His forehead furrowed.

"Chocolate, obviously." He giggled "leather and parchment for sure but also shampoo, it's sweet but it also smells like a wet dog..." he trailed off furrowing his brow.

Remus handed James the amortentia. And they sat in reflection and comfortable silence for a few moments before heading to bed.
