cat laziness is so contagious. you'll see your cat flopped on its back in your bed a completely comfy cozy baby and you'll be like. you're right. you make a compelling argument.
TAYLOR SWIFT The Eras Tour, Paris May 12, 2024
TAYLOR SWIFT — 'Fortnight' (feat. Post Malone)
I think the only way I can handle shortening the ttpd song titles is by trimming off some words (I can fix him, who's afraid, smallest man, chloe or sam... etc) because whenever I see the acronyms my brain malfunctions. waolom? mbobhft? cososom?? icfhnric?? icdiwabh? tsmwel??? those aren't songs they're keysmashes
is this what she meant
Taylor doesn't need to do any promo to be successful, but I do think it's also fair for fans to be disappointed or bored that she chooses to do literally nothing these days promote a new album. For me we have just kinda lost the fan connection with her completely that used to be so damn special. We're also all older, so it doesn't matter as much. But there's something sad about it. I'll always be here, always be so excited no matter what, but I do miss how things used to be sometimes.
I also think moreso for me it's just that... We have nothing to discuss. Like we have a tracklist and some photos and have said most of what there is to say about that. I sometimes will be like "I wanna be a swiftie today!" but then go to make a post and I'm like... Ok well there's nothing to say. IDK I'm being a baby but I miss actually getting tidbits to mull over and talk about and theorize about.
did you guys know that friday night beneath the stars in a field behind your yard you and i are painting pictures in the sky and sometimes we don't say a thing just listen to the crickets sing everything i need is right here by my side and i know everything about you i don't wanna live without you i'm only up when you're not down don't wanna fly if you're still on the ground it's like no matter what i do you drive me crazy half the time the other half i'm only tryna let you know that what i feel is true and i'm only me when i'm with you
"Taylor Swift isn't forcing you to buy to several editions of the same album" and "too many editions of the same album is wasteful and we just want to own 1 edition that has all the song" are statements that can coexist btw
I don't actually agree. The "no one's forcing you to buy it" is a specific piece of rhetoric that was coined by corps to excuse predatory business practices, and I think this is definitely predatory, especially in the time locking aspect of songs. Like at the end of the day piracy is always an option with music, or any media, but I want to be clear that this is in fact predatory marketing taking advantage of a highly dedicated core group of fans. Casinos and then mobile gaming and them, more recently, gaming at large have a term for what she's doing: she's grinding up whales, and like... there are literally laws some places that have stopped common whale grinding practices because it's been proven so effective and destructive. It's disingenuous to say to that core group of fans who are being pavlov'd into buying this way aren't being forced to do so. It isn't being intellectually honest about what's happening.
There are EASILY searchable studies about this phenomena.
Taylor Swift isn't magically a great and perfect person just because she makes good and fun music. She regularly uses LGBT fans for profit (even going so far as to include You Need To Calm Down on the Eras Tour) but has not vocally called her fans to any sort of action about the ongoing attempts to eradicate LGBT and especially trans rights even in her own home state. She has proven she's willing to at least nominally speak up for political issues, but refuses to offer any rallying or financial aid to Palestinians in the midst of a literal genocide. She doesn't do anything about the TONS of CO2 emissions every month including from less than half an hour plane rides, she doesn't do anything to improve her merch quality to prevent it fron contributing to the environmental issues of fast fashion. She platformed Matty fucking Healy ffs.
And yes, she's done some good things too. I'm not denying that.
What I am saying is she is a DEEPLY flawed human being and enjoying her music or even her brand persona doesn't mean that we have to, or even should, excuse predatory business practices that historically target fans with predispositions to addiction and puts them in a horrible financial state. She has even personally seen that this happens at the Eras Tour film premier.
I am not saying no one should enjoy Taylor's music obviously. I really enjoy her music, and am especially excited for an album that appears to have been heavily produced by Florence Welch! I just have noticed there's a trend in pop fanbases to excuse scummy practices and shut down people mad about it, and it's starting to eat at me.

lmfao
sorry but yall... need to learn how to have normal convos about taylor swift. and i mean EVERYONE.
haters will be like "taylor swift is the devil. evil woman. worst person alive."
and then stans will be like "actually she can do no wrong. she is always correct."
like shut up!!!! all of yall stfu please fr it's like watching the dumbest convo take place.
taylor swift is a flawed, extremely privileged person. she can both be a good person, and fuck up. she can have good intentions but be absolutely out of touch and cause harm. she can also quite frankly have the wrong opinions yall. she is a person. yall have GOT to digest that.
you can disagree with things she does and not think she's satan like my god did we all collectively graduate elementary school?? can we all have complex emotions??? let us try harder on that thank you so much.
just wondering if anyone else thinks the tracklist looks like footnotes
what sucks is people are going to continue to say "white mediocrity strikes again" "taylor gets nominated easier and has a lower bar to win because she's a white woman" and they're 1000% going to be right
like i did want taylor to win 4 AOTY one day and hit that historic first artist mark to do but i just feel like it should've happened with a different album. like tbh red even deserved aoty more than midnights it's just... i feel like this came cause of the eras tour and how fucking gigantic she is right now not because of the actual midnights album itself.
"Why are you acting like you don't know this song?" FUCKIN ICON
