[Alex is nowhere to be seen.
There are limbs of a dead animal by the treehouse.
Investigate them?]
@youstillhauntthecornersofmyheart
[This could be a sign of many things. Hopefully nothing that would interrupt his plan. It shouldn't, how would they get into the treehouse?]
[Enjia tries to see where the cause of the dead animal limbs went.]
[when you see one of the limbs, you see a claw stuck in one of them.
Not Alex's claw.
Maybe you could use that as some sort of anchor?]
[They don't want to touch it. That could end poorly, leave no evidence behind and all. However ... It would be good to know what this thing was and where it went.]
[if you touch it, you see a house with a cage-like structure at the back.
A few spiders crawl into that house.]
[Enjia hummed and followed the Spiders. Spiders, like other insects, were good at finding places to go unnoticed. Perfect.]
[they eventually arrive at said house.
There's someone outside, waiting]
Hey there.
[Well, he didn't plan to be spotted initially, but this could still work.]
Hey there, you left a message for me I take it? You're very skilled.
I know.
Anyway, I'm guessing you're here to see your precious little pet?
My pet! That's a way to put it. I've seen many things, but... Ah, well. I'm actually quite pleased to see you, if I'm honest.
Everyone is.
He is your pet though, is he not?
Words are malleable, if that's what you'd like to call him, yes. I could say so.
But since I've made your acquaintance at last, may I have a name? Perhaps get to know you? I've heard a little about you and I'm intrigued to hear it from the source.
Oh?
What has it told you?
It's told me about your world here. I admit at first I didn't believe h- it but I may be starting to understand. This is your world, isn't it? How fascinating. How did you create such a place?
The Angel of Death blessed us..
It runs through our blood, natural as a fish in a river.
Wow, I can see what a blessing it is. You must be incredibly powerful, how could it have left this? Ah, don't mind me. How do you show your gratitude to this Angel? How did you earn its favor?
If you join us, you can find out.
Well! Goodness, you are far more receptive than I thought you would be. How would one join?
You prove your worth.
I'll do what I must to. I know I may sound desperate but I would love to learn from you.
Follow me then.
[he starts leading them inside, and right by the entrance to the house, you can see Alex, in a cage that's too small for him, but the right size for the wolf.
Despite this, he was human.]
[Enjia had the intense urge to drop everything and get Alex out of there, hug him probably. Instead he looked over and smiled slightly, in hopes that Alex understood his meaning]
[Maybe to anyone watching, he'd even look pleased at the development. A bonus]
[he followed]
[Alex looks away from them.
They eventually arrive at a door at the back at the house.
He opens the door.]
Enter.
[Enjia pauses for a moment to watch a spider enter first, and then he follows. It's good to be cautious.]
[the door locks.
In the center of the room, there is a table with a needle, and a small vile.]
[Enjia hums. A bit of a detour then.]
And what's this for?
[once they look around more, they see they are in that part of the house that looks like a big cage.
If they got a close look at the needle, they'd notice it had an incredibly thin hole in the center of it...
Did he want them to prick their finger on the needle or something?]
[Well, that didn't mean that's what he had to do. Now where did that spider go?]
[Once Enjia got the spider on his finger, he pricked the spider instead and got blue liquid]
[the vile slowly filled up.
Once it got fully filled, a sand timer appeared.
It was running out]
Hm, What's that for? We'll find out, won't we Spider?
[once the timer runs out, something starts beeping.
As they look around, they see the cage slowly moving in, closing in on them]
[Well, that's not ideal. It was a pretty big room though, they had time]
You know, if you gave me instructions I might've followed them. For now....
[Could they tell how old the cage was? If it had any weak points?]
[the cage was newly refurbished.
They most likely had 30 minutes until they got crushed.
There were lots of tables, locks, boxes, and other stuff appearing all over the room, including a lock by the door]
[Well, there was a lock by the door and a needle. That just about solved their problem. What sort of lock took over half an hour to pick?]
[once they picked the lock, there was a little pad with numbers you can press underneath.
Must be for a code]
Oh, this is like an escape room!
[Could he rip the pad off the wall? It should have wires underneath if it's functional.]
[it looked functional, so he probably could]
[Enjia ripped it off. Now he had wires, which could probably be made useful in some way.]
[Web weaving.]
[he gave ends of the cords to the spiders, and watched them scuttle out of the cage to wrap around something outside of it.]
[The metal starts to spark when the wires touch it]
[Perfect]
Well, I would say it'd be wise to stop the cage, hm?
[it closes in at double the speed]
[The wire stretches thin. Sparks]
Alright, alright, game over. If you truly desire some of my blood we can start over. I was only hoping you knew better ... The Angel of Death is disappointed.
[they wouldn't know..
They're unworthy.
He starts sprinting out, leaving Alex and Enjia to die]
Hm. Spiders! Bring the wires to the doors. I have something to say to you first.
[How would they know he was unworthy? He never did give his blood.]
[he approaches the cage outside]
What?
My apologies for being unclear to you earlier, it was necessary that I see how you treat new recruits. And my, I'm disappointed! I show such affinity for magic such as your land's with my spiders and you still treat me as though I may be unworthy. You're smarter than that.
...
[he presses a button, pausing the mechanism]
I suppose I am.
There you are! Now, you're lucky I'm such a forgiving person. Perhaps we can discuss this over a meal? I'm sure you'll find we have common interests.
Oh, and I'll take those pesty wires away.
Good.
Now, the meal?
Yes! I'll even help you set the table. Come on then.
Wonderful then.
[he goes back inside, lets them out, and starts setting the table.]
[Enjia waited until the food was out, and then made a show of leaning over it to inspect it. With a syringe of their own in their sleeve. It really was a wonder he wasn't checked for belongings or anything.]
[the food was uncooked steak.
He waits for Enjia to say something. This was their idea, after all.
Meanwhile, Alex was still in that cage, staring]
Mmmm, you caught this? I'm glad to know my original assumption about you wasn't entirely wrong. Tell me, how many others do you have here?
How many people?
Yes, that's what I mean. Surely it's not just you ....
Mhm.
There are plenty of us, a whole society in fact.
Oh, good! But that does make me wonder.... This magnificent domain the Angel of Death has provided for you, and yet you're the only soul I see around.
Well, you know what they say...
[he takes a sip of his drink]
Never let your enemy see your next move.
Ah, but am I your enemy? I was hoping to be a friend.
Tell me why you want to join in the first place.
Oh, my apologies. I was not sent to join, I was sent to check in on you. I have the Angel of Death's blessing, was it not clear?
Ah, and do eat! Don't let my chatting stop you, I'd hate to see you starve.
I shouldn't eat.
I'm your host, after all.
Oh, but I insist! I suggested the meal, I do believe that makes me the host. We shall share this meal.
[Enjia takes a piece themself.]
...
[he starts eating]
[Enjia smiles]
Hm, see!
[He takes a very small bite. He practiced this but that doesn't help how difficult it is to seemingly effortlessly bite off and then swallow the thing. He doesn't even throw up, applaud him.]
Meals are best when shared.
I suppose they are.
[he has more, finishing pretty much all of it]
[Small amounts of black mold cause you to get sick after a few hours. Large amounts ... Well Enjia was surprised he wasn't throwing up already]
Oh, and quick question, why is your darling star here in a cage? That can't be helpful for you.
The Angel of Death needs him closer to it.
[He was trying to avoid puking, but not doing a good job hiding it]
[Enjia can't resist smiling knowingly]
Is that so? He seems plenty close to me. Perhaps it's you that isn't doing things right.
I'm doing things ri-
[aaand then he pukes]
[amused giggle]
Mhm, see? That's the curse of the Angel of Death. And here I am unscathed. I've seen enough here for the moment, I believe
[Enjia stands]
What-
What did you just-
[pukes again]
I did nothing, I simply asked the Angel of Death to show me if you were worthy. Evidently, you are not. May I request the code to the cage?
0000-
[puke.
That was the full code though]
[Enjia went over to unlock Alex, and whispered]
Run back, I've got this.
[They turned back and took out a knife]
Well, he'll find a new home I'm sure. As for you.... Hm...
...
[he stays in the cage]
[meanwhile, his parent stares at him, uncontrollably puking at this point]
[Enjia shrugs]
No mercy then. I just wanted to be sure.
[stab. In the neck until they can get it off or something stops them]
[he tries to throw him off]
[Enjia backs up, readjusts, and then keeps going]
[he eventually die]
[Enjia stood there for a moment, covered in blood and exhausted. That was far harder than they thought. They drop the knife.]
Alex?
[he looks away, caving into himself]
[Enjia kneels down in front of him]
I'm-im sorry, okay? I didn't mean any of it. And it worked! He's gone and now you'll be safe!
[he quietly whimpers]
Can you come home with me?
...
[he couldn't move..
He was too scared]
May I pick you up?
[he slowly nodded]
[Enjia picked him up and started on the journey home]
I love you wolfboy
[he responds only with a whine, still trying to process that he wasn't there anymore]
[Enjia continues towards the cave, although as they go he gets visibly more exhausted.]
[when he gets to the cave and is put down, he just lies there, face to the group]
[Enjia sits down next to him and doubles over as if pressure will stop the rapidly worsening pain]
[he immediately snaps out of it, and hugs him]
Are you okay?
[Enjia shakes his head and leans against Alex, breathing heavily]
I put black mold in there.
You won't die right?
I've got a life to spare.
[Enjia closes his eyes and curls up more]
What-
Don't you dare die on me-
It do-
[Enjia very suddenly knew they were going to vomit]
Back up. Get off of me.
[he scampers off, fearing what they may do if he didn't]
[Enjia would throw up on him, that's what they would do if he didn't. As is, Enjia threw up on the cave floor repeatedly]
...
[he had no idea what to do and was hyperventilating, panicking]
[After a while, Enjia leaned back against the cave wall and closed his eyes. Maybe he would die soon and get this over with]
[he quickly goes over to hold them]
I told you not to die..
[Enjia leans on him again and smiles slightly]
Careful, I might throw up again.
I'm not leaving...
[he murmurs]
Hm
[Enjia curls around their stomach where most of the pain is and tries to rest]
Try to stay awake..
It wouldn't hurt as much if I slept
...please..
Just trust me.
[Enjia nods]
What did they do to you? Are you okay?
I don't matter...
All that matters is that you don't die.
No, I did it for you, and it worked! It worked, right?
Yeah..
You did great, I promise..
Enjia smiles again, struggling to keep their eyes open]
Did it look cool when I did the thing with the wires?
I didn't see it..
But I bet it did.
Aw, you didn't see it? Now it's as good as myth
I heard it..
And felt it.
[Enjia curled closer]
Sorry, I didn't... I didn't expect them to try and leave like that. I thought they'd care about about the place.
[he holds them closer]
They really don't.
They can just rebuild it whenever, simple enough for them.
Should've known from how new the cage looked. I'll do better next time.
You already did well.
You don't need to do better.
I could've killed you, it was far too unpolished. I could do better.
[he laughs a bit]
Who gives a fuck about my life?
You did well. You got me out, and that's all that matters.
I care, I care about your-
[Enjia began cough-gagging violently]
[he hugs them tighter, bracing himself]
[He throws up again]
S-sorry. I care about your life. Without it there would be no...well, many things would not be.
It's fine..
..
What wouldn't there be without me?
You wouldn't be there and I like when you're here.
[Enjia's eyes droop again]
I-
Fuck uh-
I'm bringing you to the treehouse, Lucy probably has something to help you-
[Enjia nods and closes his eyes again. He smiled at the idea of being picked up again, because his mind had room for exactly one thought.]
[He picks them up, and starts sprinting there with them as fast as he possibly can]
[Due to his speed, he managed to get there before Enjia fully passed out!]
[Alex is nowhere to be seen.

[Alex is nowhere to be seen.
There are limbs of a dead animal by the treehouse.
Investigate them?]
@youstillhauntthecornersofmyheart

[Alex is nowhere to be seen.
There are limbs of a dead animal by the treehouse.
Investigate them?]
@youstillhauntthecornersofmyheart

[Alex is nowhere to be seen.
There are limbs of a dead animal by the treehouse.
Investigate them?]
@youstillhauntthecornersofmyheart

[Alex is nowhere to be seen.
There are limbs of a dead animal by the treehouse.
Investigate them?]
@youstillhauntthecornersofmyheart

[Alex is nowhere to be seen.
There are limbs of a dead animal by the treehouse.
Investigate them?]
@youstillhauntthecornersofmyheart
Enter.

[Alex is nowhere to be seen.
There are limbs of a dead animal by the treehouse.
Investigate them?]
@youstillhauntthecornersofmyheart
